Just delete social media and play with your kids/live your real life instead. You'll forget about it in three weeks and your life/friendships/relationships will get better fast, guaranteed.
Again I don't use it but I'd give Twitter/Bluesky a pass here as I don't really consider it 'social media' like the other platforms.

On the topic overall I thought Twitter worked well with media, sports for example, connecting individual users to people of influence/authority for small tidbits of information that will usually have a link to an external site for more details. It's much harder to monetize because you're not being tracked/profiled the same way as say Facebook for monetization through advertisement, but it's a great tool for companies/media/celebrities to track engagement with minimal effort. Which for Twitter made for great free advertisement, back in the earlier days watching the NHL everyone was pushing "follow us on Twitter".

Of course the problem is building such a large community without proper moderation you're going to veer towards politics and shit posting. And that's basically what "X" is now, Musk bought it and intentionally pushed it down that cliff. Which makes room for an alternative like BlueSky to get back to that original purpose of Twitter.

Woke up Thursday with brutal neck pain. Was even worse Friday. Could barely move. Slightly better today but worse than Thursday. Figured I strained it by sleeping on it wrong but this is far beyond anything I’ve experienced before. Really putting a drag on the weekend. Kids keep asking me what we’re doing and I don’t have an answer right now. I was planning on taking them to Moana 2 tomorrow.

In short, if I issue a warning it’s probably because I’m on pain and have an extremely short fuse right now.

That's the price you pay for having too big a brain.

We ended up getting ice cream instead. My 5 year old son was so excited from the Canucks win that he wanted to play hockey so I grab my sticks and a ball and we played for a bit at the park. After I dropped them off at home I went to Canadian Tire and bought a small net that came with a couple of sticks and another ball. Kids spent the rest of the evening shoot on the net. My son put his stick and ball in his bed room. Grabbed it first thing this morning and ran into the basement to practice shooting.

I feel this post. Lots of back and neck issues.

That old meme about how you can fall off a roof as a kid and walk away fine, vs sleeping wrong or turning your head too fast as an adult cripples you feels painfully accurate.

It took us 3 months, surprisingly

That's awesome! We were applying at precisely the wrong time. The Harper government had consolidated nearly all of the Asian immigration paperwork to the Manila (my wife is Japanese and they told us to write to our representatives and complain. They wanted to do the paperwork!). So there was a massive backlog.
