to be fair, you had to dodge streaking track team members in that library...

In lousy news my childhood best friend went to urgent care for a pulled muscle and, after a battery of tests in the last week, learned that he has stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis with a bunch of other related grim findings. Age 41, nonsmoker, and we're all blindsided. He flew back home for roswell park and ended up scoring a signed, personalized Tage Thompson stick. Good dude, that giraffe.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Hope he gets the best care possible.

Nice of Tage to do that, seems like a nice guy.

Similar to a school friend of mine. Her dad was riddled with cancer from memory and had no idea. He was 47. I remember thinking "that's quite young". Now I'm 43 and how young that is in the scheme of things hits a bit harder.

Stage 4 is obviously tough, but not insurmountable. I hope he smashes it.

I had a similar random thought pop into my head last night, which is that my dad was only 20 years older than I am now when he died. I live a much healthier lifestyle but even so, 20 years is not so long a time.

At Vegas with a couple dudes. Last night was pretty wild. Woke up feeling like their should be a tiger in the hotel bathroom and one of our peeps locked on the roof. This may be a day I stay away from Jack and get to know Mary J a bit more.

Well, Nate called last night and said that it looks like tomorrow's scrimmage will end up being a controlled mixed practice in their small indoor facility and Saturday's home opener will be postponed because they haven't cleared their home field from the ice and snow that has built up over the past month.

The artificial turf was installed in the summer of 2023 and the facilities people are scared of voiding the warranty and damaging the turf until the ice melts off...

I definitely get the frustration and the caution. I'd hate to be the lowly groundskeeper who voids a crazy expensive turf install.

I definitely get the concern with removing the ice and damaging the turf.

I also know that the coach told me that others aren't as motivated as he is to get the field cleared.

I wish they would do some test patches on the edges of the turf and away from the playing surface [behind the bench areas and/or the end zones] to see if they could get the ice up especially with the weather getting above freezing yesterday and today.

:dunno:

That would be both smart and interesting

I'm flying tomorrow, so this probably isnt the best video for me to be watching, haha.

On the contrary, what a save by the pilot!
