Pre-Game Talk: The Only Series We’ve Ever Known: Oilers @ Kings

Every msm sports broadcaster picked the Stars against us last season as well.
They also picked the Oilers to win it all in 2018.

The way the season played out makes us look like a standard playoff team but nothing special even with McDrai. Too many injuries along with roster wide regression… we need more than just two players going because history has shown us that’s not enough.

Cam Talbot was having a good year last year too. We seemed to solve that…

Kuemper having a great year is partly a result of the kings system. Terribly boring defensive hockey.

He’s beatable. And now he has to play McDavid and Draisaitl game after game.

It should be a good series.

Anything can happen in the playoffs. I’m glad all the pundits are betting against the oilers. That’s fuel for McDavid and drai. Here we go.

Someone should print Jaded's posting history and post it in the lockerroom for motivation

Might will them all the way to the Cup

You’d think with all the free time they have in Calgary, with the Phlegms not making the SCPlayoffs, they would spend time getting informed.
Never change Eric!

There's a reason only the Stanley Cup Champion beats the Oilers in the playoffs. It literally takes the best team in the playoffs to overcome a supernova Draisaitl and McDavid. LA is not it.

Lets blame McDavid the best player in this millennium for Skinner not producing. Sounds reasonable..

haha

I think the easiest explanation is we don't know Skinner can survive topline matching and opposition on the road. Especially given its his first ever playoff game and he might be distracted.
LOL. You realize that the statement, despite being true(McDavid did infact Eberle some setups), was also meant to be cheeky. The point you missed is that not only is Skinner producing on that line, he also helps to create on that line....and he definetly has been more productive and a driver than Brown....yet he gets demoted....again

Also, what nonsense are you selling that Skinner needs sheltering. He's a vet. Not only that, what nonsense are you selling that Knobby is likely doing this to "shelter" him b/c of playoffs

Have you not been paying attention for the last.....er.......year? Knobby definetly does NOT have Skinners best interest in mind

They finally have (mostly) everyone back and you think they aren’t going to practice with the lines they’ll be playing in their most important game (so far) of the year? Get real

Maybe they will, maybe they won’t, but it’s not a given. Seen this movie so many times before in the playoffs, and have learned to ignore the practice combos.

Hopefully knob isnt dumb enough to actually put Brown into game 1. Not only is he terrible but why would you put Emberson at a disadvantage playing his off side along with playing with the worst defenseman the Oilers have available.

That would be Coffey's decision.

I hope we win game 1 and take this series so bad. Nobody is as confident in the Oilers this year, but I hate LA and would love to knock them out for a 4th year in a row. What do they even tell themselves at that point? Take both games in LA, don’t let them believe, Oilers own the Kings and it’s gonna stay that way damn it

Oilers are a veteran team that knows itself pretty well at this point. There’s more to be gained by not tipping your hand to your opponent, especially one like the Kings who are so good at home but ass on the road, which suggest they do better with the ability to do things like line matching. Keep them in the dark about our deployment for as long as possible.

Klingberg is available. It just depends what they want to run. If Stetcher is out it will be 2 options.
Walman - Bouchard
Nurse - Klingberg
Kulak - Emberson
Or
Walman - Bouchard
Nurse - Kulak
Emberson - Brown

You know, if anything it exemplifies that the coaching staff has been reasonably solid that the only thing left to complain about is whether old J Skinner slots in on first line.

That sure isn't the be all and end all of anything but lets complain.

Myself I'll complain about the other Skinner in net. Goaltending is a salient variable in playoffs.

I’ve put aside my skinner hate for the playoffs

At this point Im just cheering for wins.

I do think Stu will have a very very very short leash.

Ie if he soils his undies in game one it will be a quick pivot to Pickard

Oilers had 2 major extended brutal stretches this year

Bouchard has been absolute dog piss and gets a pass no matter how poorly he's been. He literally lost us 12 points all by himself

S. Skinner can do no wrong either

There has been an obvious hole in the top all year and the answer is pretty evident, yet Knobby kept ignoring it till he finally got a pee pee whack by Bowman

So no, the coaching definitely has more than one thing to complain about
