Prob pissed McD didn't play. On paper LA vs Edm in game 81 going into P/Oscar should have been a barn burner and they may have paid a premium...or should I say Gene.... a prime price for the game.

Whatever the deal is...they suck. Even worse was the commentary on the earlier Montreal game. Announcer was like Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?
What a joke. Maybe by the third half next year we'll have better.
I thought I'd heard they are continuing with Oilers regular broadcast in playoffs this year. Yeah I wish this prime and other streamers stuff was done after this debacle but I suspect we're in for more of the same.

Saw it somewhere. probably wrong. I thought people wanted the Oilers broadcast to continue in playoffs. I'm meh on it but what are the options.
I want our team. Yeah Jack's obnoxious but a lot of people don't realize how absolutely shitty other yappers are, especially American ones. I'd take every cbc / SN etc announcer over all of them save for 1 or 2

Send the mods to Ukraine and Gaza I guess.
Now you're in deep shit.

Alas I knew ye well!

once again, the last series to start....just like last year

All based on Crypto.com Arena availability in LA, with NBA playoffs also starting.
It’s not the end of the world.

This team has been nicked and bruised. Supposedly they are staying in California after SJS game through the weekend etc.. Extra days to rest, integrate new players into lines/systems might all be to their benefit.

Oilers won round 1 vs. Dallas in 96-97
Oilers lost round 2 vs. Dallas in 97-98
Oilers lost round 1 vs. Dallas in 98-99
Oilers lost round 1 vs. Dallas in 99-00
Oilers lost round 1 vs. Dallas in 00-01
Oilers lost round 1 vs. Dallas in 02-03

Oilers were the visiting team in all 6 series.

God I hated those years. Well year 1 was ok but the rest sucked. Team could barely afford paper clips for the office staff and we were taking on a Dallas team with one of the highest payrolls in the league every round 1.

They are staying in San Jose. Get some sun in, a couple days of golf. Good restaurants. Rest and plan / practice to break Darcy Kuemper.

Good game from Stu last night.

Like it or not the Oilers will need Stu in the playoffs because you can't just ride Pickard thru multiple rounds (assuming they get that far).

I like the Monday start--an extra day to rest. I'd be just as happy with Wed. or Thursday. Inevitably, a few of these injuries will be reaggravated even with longer periods of rest.

Yup we got Jack. The Oilers raised hell with SN in the off season that we got Singh while everyone else got their own guys. At least that’s what I heard last summer. Hope it’s the case.

We complain about Jack until we see the "Prime" productions which look like high school presentations. I got the feeling in watching the show on Monday that some of those people were watching their first hockey game.
more people need to watch other team broadcasts if they are complaining about Jack...

I made a point of watching more teams this year and id say jack is the best in the game after listening to the majority of teams broadcasts.

So lets get this straight. According to comments in the thread Arvid is playing "GREAT" because he has 5Goals in last 10GP (actually one an ENG) and that after doing much of nothing the entire rest of season.

McLeod, constantly villified here scored 4 G in last 10 playoff games which is apparantly nothing, means he can't play or something and he has 50pts this season but with people glad he's gone...

I don't get it, other than we blindly support the players we got. Its a complete joke we got Arvid at 4MX2 doing jack squat vast majority of season.

As for playoffs Arvid has one playoff goal in the last 5yrs. I should check if it was an ENG.
He has 4 goals in the last 4 playoff appearances (5 years) 13 points in 17 games on some low scoring teams. -4 which isn't great but he's been a pretty good playoff scorer.

Honestly, I don't care one bit about the regular season. Regular season means virtually nothing to Cup contenders. This is a new season, a fresh start, so if the vets they re-signed have a good playoffs it'll be money well spent. The 3rd line from last playoffs had a good last 2 rounds in particular so I couldn't care less than Connor Brown had that long goal scoring drought in the regular season. Bring it in the playoffs and all is forgiven.

100%

But what concerns me is that we have too many injuries and people coming back from missing extended time and we were playing very poorly leading to the injury mess and last third of the season. I’m not sure there is a switch that can be flipped here. This team doesn’t have the same resolve they had last season and they seem to be a lot more fragile than previous teams physically. I have concerns going into the playoffs.

Our top end talent is unmatched though when they are on top of their game and it’s been nice to see McDavid return to form these last few games. I want to see how drai is when he returns. Him and McDavid going on at full speed would be amazing because it’s something that hasn’t happened all year so far. Draisaitl has been the only one living up to the hype. So him and 10 points in 4 games Mcdavid could be magic.

I picked Kings in 6. All our good players (outside of Bouch and Nurse I think) are either currently injured, or coming off a very recent injury and are likely still feeling the effects of those injuries. Our best D, by far, is out for the entire series. Our goaltending is still a major, MAJOR, issue. Lastly, we don't have the scoring depth we did last year.

I picked Kings in 6, but I wouldn't be surprised by a Kings sweep either. I don't expect the series to be close at all truthfully.
