I truly wonder how much of this injury run is legit (all players truly can't play) and how much of it is strategic (could play, but they just won't). The Ekholm injury is definitely legit, but McDavid? Draistail? Hyman? I think they could have all been playing this whole time probably, but a decision was made to not. Wonder how much McDavid and Drai ending each playoff year burned out/injured played into a different approach this year down the stretch.

My gut tells me we come out in Game 1 absolutely flying because all the key players had a month off. Even in the two games McDavid came back for, he looked like a completely different player than anything we had seen here since December at the latest. With all the shit the Kings are talking, I would love nothing more than to come out for Game 1 and skin them alive.

The fact that all of these injuries were ambiguous resulting in multi-week absences raises eyebrows. Pretty much all of these are the players randomly stopping then going off ice. These don't lead to multi week injuries normally. At least not every time.

Ekholm is definitely hurt.

Frederic will likely play but I doubt hes all that effective.

Kane is likely healed up but he’s probably gonna be rusty as hell.

Automatic Lawsuits. Is there even precedent for that kind of thing? I remember the Russkies not wanting to come out for third period against the Flyers but they came back out. I think after Eagleson threatened some non payment.

So maybe the injury is not to serious. One round is two weeks roughly.

I’m less worried about the injuries and more worried about the goaltending and general roller coaster that the Oilers tend to go through.

Part of the roller coaster is just the goaltending. But Nurse has also already put the wheels in motion if he gets suspended for 2 games or more which I’m expecting at this point.

I follow this team and honestly I just don’t know what to expect from them on any given night. I’d like to think they will come out motivated and play with intensity. For a veteran team that went to the finals they should be able to control their emotions but I doubt they will.

Will be interesting to see how the refs call the series. In previous years, they called a lot of penalties to start and it eventually tapers off. This year, it feels like they haven’t called as many penalties. Player points are down across the board. Previous years we beat the kings mainly because of special teams. But I wouldn’t be surprised if less penalties are called this year.
