So this isn't a bad haul for the Bills, IMO. Kennard is a sleeper in the 4th round.

That said.....looking at what else is/was on the board for the Bills at 30......not sure Amos would be my pick. Grant, T. Williams, Mykel Williams, Ezeiruaku, Egbuka and Nolen were all on the board. Frankly I'd have a REAL hard time passing on Mykel Williams if he slipped that far......and that'd be a guy I could see Beane actually going up for. Hell, Shemar Stewart went at 29 and he'd also be a guy I could see Beane going up for.

But I like Mukuba and Higgins in the 2nd....love Kennard in the 4th. Neal at the end of the 4th could be a nice value add....could make for a good combo with Davis next year.

Not using one of our top 3 picks on a DL, given our huge long term need and the strength of the class, would be a catastrophic failure to me. I'd rather use all 3 picks on DL than none of them.

That's the big hangup I have with CB at 30. The best CB available will probably be something like the 50th best player. The best DL will probably be a top 25 player.

Anchoring is often more about technique than size. Kyle Williams was able to play both 1 and 3 tech despite being on the smaller size because he had such good technique. Grant's height might be playing a against him a bit, but the hope would be with better technique you can fix leverage issues.

That was my issue as well. If one of the good DTs isn't available at 30, I think a trade down is the next best option, aside from someone from tier 1+ or tier 1 falling. And that also assumes someone wants to trade up for the value appropriate for the trade up.

All things being equal, I'd rather have pick 37 and the associated trade value than pick 30 if there isn't a player who fell.

Agreed. If we're looking at DL and secondary here's the players I think are "good enough" to warrant a first round pick, scheme fit notwithstanding:

DL
Graham, Carter, Walker, Stewart (will all be long gone)
Harmon
Nolen
Williams
Green
Williams
Pearce
Ezereiuku

Secondary
Hunter, Johnson (will be long gone)
Revel
Starks
Emmanwori
Borderline: Barron (I bet McD would love him, he's a super intelligent zone corner, excellent scheme fit. But there's a reason he projects as a day 2 pick: he's pretty vanilla from a size and athleticism standpoint)

Twice as many first round grade DL as secondary. And moreover, if I were to rank them, I'd have every single DL higher than Revel, Emmanwori, and Barron.

Based on talent that contract is a steal. You would think the players want to be in Buffalo and willingly took less, albeit still life changing, money for the betterment of the organization. Not that every re-signing was a steal but all probably accepted less money than they would have eventually made in free agency.

I don’t think so.

I think the only reason he was so loud was because he (and his agent) knew where they stood on the extension pecking order.

He was in no way a priority over Benford, Bernard, Shakir or Rousseau…and they knew it. Forget that those are the best players at their position on the team…because Cook is too…but those positions are MUCH more difficult to replace. Your best pass rusher, your arguably only good WR, the captain of your D, your top DB? They knew he was last dog at the bowl. And they were desperate to get him paid off of a year where his scores don’t match his production. He’s not going to do that again. Which means he needed to cash in now. Or try and force a trade to somewhere that would pay him based off of it. I don’t think it’s an accident that Cook, who we haven’t heard a word from in four years, started loudly causing a ruckus towards a GM who just ate a ton of dead cap to remove a problem from the room…at #1 WR. Desperate actions because they know his season won’t be repeated.

Maybe his ridiculous ask comes down and they do it. Maybe he’s not even on the team. He’s not exactly a back you run into the ground and let walk. Guy plays less than half the snaps now because you don’t trust him with the hard ones. Hes not a three down back. They’ll probably just use him the same and move on after the year.

Adding on -- I wonder if Beane has his eyes on a compensatory pick for if/when Cook bolts........
