The offseason begins

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

There is the thing.

There is a big difference between what fans and media want Brandon Beane to do and what Brandon Beane is planning to do.

I just get frustrated with people that put forth their idea of what Beane should do and act like it is what Beane will do. Those are two very different things in plenty of cases.
you want manufactured anger ? Spend a half hour on OBD or Bills Twitter and you will see some extreme hate/second guessing on Beane. Truly astounding for those of us who had to endure Brandon/Nix/Whaley. He's not perfect but no one is and hopefully he gets them over the line for a Lombardi.

In the same breath try and not take it all so seriously either. There's enough stress from the Sabres

I could see a QB taken to pair with white or trubisky with an eye on cutting costs after this year, and/or potentially trading him for picks later on.

Probably not, but I don’t think it’s extremely unlikely
They are only going to keep 2 QBs on the 53 man roster and 1 on the PS.

It sure seems like White and Trubisky are having a camp battle for the backup job and then Buechele is the PS guy.

I just don't see a path for a draft pick to be the backup in 2025. And why use a draft pick on a PS QB when you signed Buechele?

That stuff is easy to dismiss for me.

It is the mock drafts from normally reasonable Bills content creators that love to mock a certain QB who played college ball at an Upstate university that drives me up a wall. Especially when asked about it and the response is "well, I don't like Trubisky, White and Buechele."

OK....

This bills hallmark movie is going to be goldmine for meme creation, I'm sure.

Poor Josh Allen probably has to do a cameo in it since he's signed that contract with the production company that makes it.

the Syracuse alum bias in Buffalo Media is beyond amusing to me (you too Salc :thumbu: ). Syracuse has done nothing in recent memory and is not a Buffalo suburb lol

remember when people wanted Nassib in the 1st round here ?

CB Darien Porter, Iowa State

Darien Porter is one of the most unique players in this draft class. A six-year redshirt senior, he played just 724 scrimmage snaps over his college career and only began playing cornerback in 2022 — after spending high school and his first three seasons at Iowa State as a wide receiver. While he logged 965 special teams snaps during his time in Ames, he didn’t see significant action on defense until the 2024 season.

Unsurprisingly, the coverage sample size was small, but the production was outstanding. In 2024, Porter was targeted 17 times and allowed just five receptions for 70 yards. He intercepted three passes, dropped a fourth interceptable pass and broke up four more. While it’s a limited data set, the results speak for themselves: opposing quarterbacks posted a passer rating of just 4.7 when throwing his way.

His run defense, however, left much to be desired. Across 218 run-defense snaps, Porter recorded just seven tackles, missed four, and consistently struggled to shed blocks and maintain edge containment.

There’s no question Porter is a project, and at 24 years old, that can be a tough sell for teams. Still, his athleticism and ball skills present legitimate upside. At the combine, he ran a blazing 4.30 40-yard dash and posted a 6.71 three-cone drill—elite numbers for a 6-foot-3, 195-pound corner. Given his age and limited experience, he’s almost certain to be a Day 3 selection, but he fits the mold of an early fourth-round swing on a high-upside developmental player.

An older prospect and a CB who struggles against the run. I get the traits, but I will be a bit surprised if he is the CB the Bills take in the first two rounds.

30. Buffalo Bills

Trey Amos, CB, Ole Miss

The Bills were more aggressive this offseason than a year ago, locking up in-house talent (wide receiver Khalil Shakir) while bringing in free agents (edge rusher Joey Bosa). But Buffalo needs more help in the secondary, and Amos is one of my guys in this draft. He has size (6-1, 195 pounds) and speed (4.43 in the 40) and it shows on tape. He executes in-phase coverage and has the skills to be an exceptional press-cover cornerback. Amos bounced around in college (Ole Miss was his third school) and is a bit raw, but he's a playmaker who notched three interceptions last season. He has the potential to be the Bills' future CB1 and a long-term building block.

56. Buffalo Bills

Andrew Mukuba, S, Texas

The Bills go two-for-two on SEC defensive backs (Trey Amos was their first-rounder), getting a safety with awesome instincts and coverage recognition. Mukuba thrived as a deep safety this past season, grabbing five interceptions and showing playmaking ability. He hits harder than his 5-foot-11, 186-pound size suggests and has closing speed (4.45 in the 40) with fast processing skills. He's the rare safety who is aggressive but poised enough to not to take himself out of plays or bite on misdirection. Mukuba could serve as a reserve behind Damar Hamlin early on.

62. Buffalo Bills

Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State

With quarterback Josh Allen getting a big-money extension, drafting young players for him to throw to is smart roster management. Higgins is a true X receiver at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds and has the ability to consistently win on breaking routes underneath. Put him in the offense with Khalil Shakir in the slot and Keon Coleman working outside and the Bills have a trio of young, talented players for Allen. 109. Buffalo Bills (via CHI): Kyle Kennard, Edge, South Carolina 132. Buffalo Bills: Devin Neal, RB, Kansas
169. Buffalo Bills*: Vernon Broughton, DT, Texas
170. Buffalo Bills (via DAL)*: Jeffrey Bassa, LB, Oregon
173. Buffalo Bills*: Zy Alexander, CB, LSU 177. Buffalo Bills (via NYG): Jonas Sanker, S, Virginia 206. Buffalo Bills: Gavin Bartholomew, TE, Pitt
So this isn't a bad haul for the Bills, IMO. Kennard is a sleeper in the 4th round.

That said.....looking at what else is/was on the board for the Bills at 30......not sure Amos would be my pick. Grant, T. Williams, Mykel Williams, Ezeiruaku, Egbuka and Nolen were all on the board. Frankly I'd have a REAL hard time passing on Mykel Williams if he slipped that far......and that'd be a guy I could see Beane actually going up for. Hell, Shemar Stewart went at 29 and he'd also be a guy I could see Beane going up for.

But I like Mukuba and Higgins in the 2nd....love Kennard in the 4th. Neal at the end of the 4th could be a nice value add....could make for a good combo with Davis next year.

Beane is one of the best GMs in the league. He's typically got a good plan and executes it well. Last off-season was a great example. He had no plans of not contending, despite what the media said.

The QB think for mock drafts is crazy. I thought about Riley Leonard for a bit, since he's a poor man's Josh Allen. But then they signed Mike White. To a degree, the team is built for Josh Allen or bust. If he gets hurt, then it's top 15 pick time.

With Grant and Tyleik Williams on the board at 30, that's a trade down scenario if Beane doesn't have the DT's rated in the 1- tier. Because I don't see a ton of difference between the 1- and 2+ tiers.

I think the biggest possible upcoming example of this is......

I would LOVE it for the Bills to use our first pick on a space-eating huge 1-tech DT. However, it's been proven/shown that time and again.....it's simply not a priority for the Bills. They prioritize penetration and gap integrity along their D-line. Unless they're tweaking their philosophy.....I don't see us using a 1st or 2nd round pick on a guy like Grant (who many here, including myself, are clamoring for).

Grant isn't just a big space eater 1-T DT, though. He can play a penetrating game that is unique for a guy that is 320+.

Thing is, if they draft and develop a QB that turns out to be good, that QB could be trade bait for us down the line...And, also be relied on if Josh got hurt....So, I'm not against the idea.

I’ve read that his anchor is surprisingly a weakness. Some think that whichever team drafts him will want him to slim down and be a 3 tech.

My mom got these for Nate and I.

I wanted the one on the right, but I let Nate pick which one he wanted. Thankfully, he wanted the one on the left,

Now the only problem I have is that my wife was happy because she like the one on the right and wants to wear it, too.

I loved that line from Josh, but they are really going to grind it to a nub aren't they? Maybe I'm just too plugged in online but I've seen like 4 different shirts of this quote.

To me, the most important thing is to have a QB in the room who works well with Josh, whether it's in breaking down film, practice, etc. Ideally, you also aren't spending much cap on backup QB though. A late round rookie contract QB to be the backup is great from a cap standpoint. Ideally, said backup is also a good runner so if he has to play games you can just let him run with the football instead of forcing the issue and turning it over. After all, if Allen is hurt long-term or in the playoffs, we're probably screwed anyways, so a guy who can survive 1-2 regular season games is all I want out of that position.

It's not just the team, but every Bills related merch producer came out with their version.

I got a mug with it from 26 Shirts, too.

My guess is that the MVP stuff in general will fade out as we get the draft stuff, the new guy stuff, and then the camp stuff.
