Josh Allen seems like a really cool guy that genuinely loves Buffalo.

Do you think he could buy us a top four defensive defensman?

I said this in the football section below…but Allen taking Trevor Lawrence AAV is a steal. He could have broken the market as the reigning MVP who has watched guys like Dak and Tua jump him. I genuinely would have predicted that by the time Daniels deal comes in a few years the top end is 65 annually. It still might be with rising caps and next star up and all…but it included Allen and Mahomes pushing it to 60 or more. And Allen didn’t.

Yea Allen and Mahomes still operating within the same scale as other QBs is truly team friendly. There’s nothing stopping them for demanding 80 a year if other QBs far inferior are making in the 50s
That's about be quite a power couple (Josh and Hailee)!:thumbu:

That’s what I’m saying.

There was nothing stopping him from saying he wants to reset the AAV or % of cap markets. Dak gets 60 per. Which is why you shouldn’t F around with your QB, Jerry. Burrow got over 24% of the cap at the time he signed it. Allen took 55 per and under 20 %.

He got to reset the guaranteed money…finally knocking that disgusting Watson contract down to second place. Which is what players covet the most. And…kind of set a precedent on redoing with four years left…but both really only apply to QB deals. Which…will get reset when Mahomes does this too. Getting in ahead of him is going to pay off sooner than later IMO. Not to mention Lamar waiting in the wings behind him having been jerked around the last time. I suspect that Lamar deal will be the top of the AAV and guaranteed money spots when his time arrives. Which…with Allen and Beane doing it four years early…can happen sooner than I thought. It kind of opens a lot of doors to cover for bad contracts pushing the best players down the list.

I’m dying to see how this is structured. Because it could happen again with Allen halfway through this one. If there’s a massive cap hit balloon waiting like there was on this deal. There’s no reason not to kick his can until retirement. They’re rebuilding when he’s gone anyway. He is the window.

Allen getting his new deal, McGovern is the last player entering the last year of his deal that I can see the Bills extending who will also give them sizable cap relief in 2025.

I won't be shocked if he gets a new deal before Wednesday afternoon.

Can someone remind me. I know with nfl free agency, there’s usually great activity the first few or so hours, and a lot of overall the first 48 hours. Under the old rules I know that was when free agency officially started (you’d see some stuff because of tampering the days before).

But under the legal tampering period starting today, do we get that activity I’m thinking of today at noon? Or not until it officially starts on Wednesday?

Starting at noon today, teams can talk to agents and not players on other teams.

So, you will get reports of "Player X has agreed to a deal with Team Y." But, you won't get the recruiting visits and such starting at noon.

Although, there are all the FAs that were released (Davante Adams for instance and now Von Miller) that can sign because they are not on contracts that expire on Wednesday at 4pm.

So, you will see action.

One type of thing that I wouldn't be shocked by over the next couple of days are guys like Hollins, Ty Johnson, Q Morris, and Gilliam testing the market by having their agents ask around and then they re-sign with the Bills before Wednesday having gauged the market for themselves.

Thanks! My question I think was more when do we see the flurry of signing activity. From what I’m reading, that’s today

The signings for guys on expiring deals with other teams cannot happen today.

But, it will be a busy news week with news about players currently with other teams picking up as compared to last week. But, as we have seen, the player signing & movement news has already started to pick up big time.

This just ramps it up a little bit.

It will be a week or two of lots of FA news. Then it will die down a little bit and shift to the draft. Then you can get a slower trickle of stuff leading up to the opening of camp.
