Buffalo Bills The offseason begins — NFL draft Apr. 24-26

And for the love of all that is good and holy, don't trade down to the second again... If you get he right position, that 5th-year option can stave off creating a roster hole that Beane would otherwise have to fill via the draft. I know it's just one year, but it's one advantage at a time when we need as many as we can get.
I’m not usually a fan of trading down, but when you look at the gap of talent between like, 30-50, it’s a crap shoot. If Grant is our guy and he’s there at 30, you obviously take him. If BB has 4-5 guys that’ll be there at 38? You absolutely do that and pick up a 3rd. Beanes going to be very active this year. 2 4th’s, 3 5ths, 2 6ths. I have faith.

I'd be very concerned watching that dude plow JA from behind 🤣

If there's no tush push anymore, draft JJ Pegues and hand it off.
When I see the tape on Bond, I love what I see. Great separator. CB's are not going to lock him up at the snap. Good deep ball skills. When I listened to Joe Marino's podcast yesterday, he brought up off the field issues so I'm not sure what's up with that.

His nickname is Isaiah "Released On" Bond.

So this mock while not perfect, I was pretty happy with.

Trepasso Full 7 Round Mock below.
Chris is usually plugged in to what the Bill's might be thinking as much as anyone (Joe B ie) out there (and "maybe" even a lurker here ? :sarcasm: ) Saying that, this one is a bit meh first glance for me (sorry Chris). I will be interested to see the rest of opinions here.

#30 Kenneth Grant DT Michigan - Love it
#56 Darien Porter CB Iowa St - Could be Woolen or could be Elam. And Woolen was a 5th...
#62 Donovan Ezeiraku EDGE Boston College - Love it once Swinson is off the board
#109 Dont'e Thornton WR Tennessee - Love it
#132 Caleb Ransaw CB Tulane - Feels like they're trying to replace Siran Neal here.
#169 Cam Horsley DT Boston College - Don't hate it for a rotational 1T, but there's a lot of those in the draft
#170 CJ Dippre TE Alabama - This is a pick to replace Morris as a core-4 ST guy
#173 Corey Kiner RB Cincinnati - Don't get this one. Not large, not fast, bad hands... much rather Brashard Smith from SMU here on how the board fell.
#177 Maxen Hook S Toledo - This is fine, although the Bills really could use a ball hawk back there or at least someone with wheels.
#206 Elijah Ponder EDGE Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo Del Rio Mas Locos Technical College And Welding Shop - I suppose he's a project but I don't know why you'd pass on Fadil Diggs from SYRACUSE.

Overall I'd be ok with this draft. There's a few tweaks I'd make and noted some of them. Mostly I don't like the handling on CB's... spending 56 on a near-25 year old project CB over a trade down and get a couple picks in the 70-110 range and snag one from the tier of Nohl Williams/Jacob Parrish/Quincy Riley and another guy like maybe Chris Paul to set a foundation for 2026 and moving on from Milano (in this mock 56 to JAX for 70+107 which is close value, 70 gets Paul and 107 gets the CB). Then you can add a development prospect with upside like Bilhal Kone late.

I like the first 5 picks. I’d like it more if you bundled up some of those later picks.

Lottery tickets. Or at least, competition. This simulator has by far the highest probability of the guy I want getting taken the pick before mine. But I don't think I drafted anyone that has no path to the 53.

Quantity style draft, added a few in the third round.

I like the trade feature where they evaluate the trade. I haven’t looked how it stacks up with any draft trade charts, but at least it’s a standard.

Not sure if I like the board yet but this sim makes it hard to get everyone you want. Most of the time when I trade out of 30 I get Landon Jackson or Xavier Watts as my top available players.

I make a lot of progress from 56 through the end of the 3rd round.

This sim was me trying to stack the 3rd. I ended up stacking the 4th too.

I haven’t really tried yet to trade out of 30 and then trade up from the 4th to add picks. I’ll run that a few times today.

Went all in on the trade down and the trade up.

On the trade down, Amos has been available at 35 pretty consistently.

I had the choice of Alexander or Collins at 56. Went Alexander because he profiles as a Bills style DT who they routinely put at 1DT.

Yeah any mock that has us picking more than seven guys is a not starter for me. The roster is rather full, including from last year's class.

Bundle them to move up and get specific guys. Or trade them for 2026 picks that we can use for in-season trades when we know our injury-based needs.
Agreed. Especially knowing guys like Amos, Hairston. Thomas. Porter and Morrison a bit later. Good options. Without ACL injuries. I’m torn but I have the same concerns.

Without the ACL? Dudes a top-15 pick.
I'm a little queasy about Beane taking corner high again after the disaster of Elam (mainly them getting fooled on his IQ).

I'd rather figure out a way to double dip in the 3rd and 5th. Nohl Williams, Porter, Zy Alexander, Burke, McWilliams, Ransaw. Re-sign Rasul and let him battle two hungry rookies for CB2 behind Benford, with Dane as the reserve.

What do we think of Nick Emmanwori? Personally, I think while it's not the biggest need, I might love a big, fast, hard-hitting dynamic safety like that. It would give us a "that guy" type of player on defense whom we could build a defensive identity around. I'm also not confident (given his combine performance) he falls anywhere near us. But if he did, it would give me pause.

Starks is the safety id fully endorse trading up for. He reminds me of Branch, Hamilton, DeJean who all similarly fell due to position valuation and ended up being game changers

After watching the Cover1 mock draft from the other day, they really got me on Nohl Williams. I hadn't looked at much of his tape, but man this dude just looks like a McD corner. I'm now regularly drafting him with one of our 2nds (Brugler has him 8th on his list with 2/3 grade).

In this one I used a 4th and 5th to move up to 26 in the 1st. Didn't get to double dip at DT or CB, but I wouldn't be mad about this at all.

The descriptions of Emmanwori being the safety version of Tremaine Edmunds--physical freak with questionable football IQ leading to a slow trigger or incorrect reactions--have me not wanting to take him. Gimme Starks or Watts if we're going with a higher pick (round 1 or 2) at safety. I wouldn't necessarily love it given their needs elsewhere, but none of their current dudes are that great at playing the deep third eraser role like Hyde did in his prime.

The film isn't great. Looks stiff and struggles to move laterally. Reminds me of Jeremy Chinn who hasn't done much in the NFL.

Prefer Starks or Mukuba.
