Not your fault that you really slowed down this year and that our coach who should be canned played you instead of fielding the best lineup possible.

Overall, I appreciated your toughness, committment to defensive side of the ice, and from what I can gather, being a great teammate. Us Sharks fans will miss you as a result of everything you did, even if we called for your trade.

Thank you.

Douglas Murray Appreciation Thread

I know he hasn't played very well for, ugh, about a year and a half, but for years he was a super underrated player here and a helluva dude. Congrats on your 2013 Stanley Cup, Dougie. :yo:

I'm going to kindly request that this be a positivity-only thread. :)

Always liked the guy. Hopefully he gets a second life in the east where guys may not understand Dougie physics.

Oh, does anyone have the "Murray Physics" graphic? I think it's our duty to give it to Penguins fans.

He was drafted by us and has played every single one of his NHL games in a Sharks jersey so far.

I liked Murray before. A beast. But he had to go.

Thanks.

Going to miss him. Epitome of class, and one of the biggest hitters ever. I absolutely hope he can regain some of his old form back, wish the guy nothing but the best, and a cup!

Whenever another player would have the momentum and seeming advantage, and try and knock Murray over, and he would just lay into them... I will miss those hits. Sadly they were few and far between lately.

#sjsharks GM Wilson praises Murray on departure: "This deal places Douglas in a quality situation which he deserves."

Agreed. Hope he wins a Cup. :)

This is sad. He was a crowd favorite and heart and soul guy. I hope he wins a cup in Pittsburgh

Is he saying San Jose isn't a quality situation? :sarcasm:

lol. Maybe he thinks we are gonna miss the playoffs.

Anyway, thank you Douglas Murray for your time as a Shark. You were fun to watch early in your career but you have been terrible the last two years. Bye!

From now on, these last two seasons are totally forgotten. My memories of Murray will be when he was on the top of his game and annihilated people left and right. Thank you Douglas Murray for all the enjoyable, bone-crushing hits you dished out. :handclap:

It certainly is an interesting phrasing.

Murray on trade: "San Jose has become home for me and I’m leaving with an empty feeling with the teams we had here not getting it done."

More Murray on trade from #SJSharks: But it’s extremely exciting going to Pittsburgh, going to the best team in the league already."

I hope he does as well but that's not something that a GM ought to be saying. There's a fairly large implication there with regards to where he was prior to the trade.

Appreciated what Murray brought especially when he was a good fit 2-3 years ago, but at this time he is a constant liability out there for this team. Pittsburgh can score with the best and plays in the weaker defensive conference, so he is probably a better fit there. With a little more freedom to gamble he probably has quite a few highlight-reel hits left in him.

Someone posted it in the main board thread so thought I would repost here.

Murray at his best.
