Wow.
What a f***ing outing against the Reds for the Country Breakfast. Tainter, entering in the 4th with a man on 2nd and 2 down, retires his first batter on 3 straight strikes, preventing the go ahead run from scoring. 6.1 innings later (SIX POINT ONE), Tainter was relieved after the 11th inning. His offense couldn't muster 1 run up for him, until the next pitcher promptly served up 2 home runs and a 5 spot in the top of the 12th inning. 6.1 innings of 3 hit ball, allowing 0 runs, 0 walks, and striking out 5. One of the most incredible relief performances in recent memory. Tainter only threw 57 pitches.
A few nights later, again with his team down big early, Tainter threw 2.2 innings, walking 1 and allowing 2 hits but no runs. In an otherwise ho hum performance, something grand happened....
....though it resulted in an F7. 0/1 in his young career. Nonetheless his gutsy performance inspired his Angels to overcome an early 6-0 deficit in an exciting game, crossing the plate for the 6th and 7th time in the top of the 9th before shutting the door in St. Louis.
A quick 1.1 inning outing, earning the hold, while allowing 1H and striking out 2 rounds out tonight's slate of games for Tainter. You know what to do tomorrow night
