Hey media,

can you guys take a moment to think.

They are giving Devin McCourty heck because they thought he did not know who the Beatles were (As it turned out, it was his brother...and while his brother knew who they were/are, he did not know their songs).

a 37 year old African American. Born in 1987...17 years after they broke up. 6 years after John Lennon died.

Their Mother, who was raised in NY in the 1970 and 1980's was and would have been a hip-hop/soul/blues fan. As would their entire neighbourhood. As would much of the state of NY.

The Brothers would have grown up in the late 1990's/early 2000's. And listened to hip-hop/rap from that era. Tupac Shakur...John Lennon and his "Twist and Shout" would have not been heard.

Why would you expect then McCourty brothers to relate to the Beatles????

In 2008, Chris Myers is interviewing Barry Zito. He had recently signed a big contract to move to San Fran. Zito is into music and has a band and is more a guitarist.

Old Chris (now 65, back then 48), asks Zito (then 28) if he emulates Jimi Hendrix and so on... Jimi Hendrix died in 1969 a full 7 years before Zito was born. Zito would have been raised on 1990's rock.. 30 years after Hendrix.

Good Lord, Chris Myers would have been too young for Hendrix, himself.

And my favorite is: interviewers will run up to some 18, 19 or 20 year old hockey player and ask him who his favorite player is and who they model their game after. And then be surprised when the kid does not answer Gretzky or Orr or Howe.

If you are 19 today, you have spent the last 7 years following CALE MAKAR. Himself only 26. Or Quinn Hughes. Bobby Orr, or Raymond Bourques are your Dad and Granddad's heroes.

Stand long enough to know your subject and what you are confronting.

Wait until they play a Glenn Millar or Tommy Dorsey song and people fail to recognize them.. Wahh.. It has only been 80-100 years. Or the first person who fails to recognize Howie Morenz. He has been dead for 90 years.
