Dirty forks and dead parrots

"A talk with his son Lawrence got Jon Speelman thinking about how many Monty Python sketches he could link to specific chess themes. He thus came up with ‘dirty forks’, ‘dead parrots’, ‘four Yorkshiremen’ and ‘the Ministry of silly walks. Enjoy"!

I'll skip some of the more obvious choices. Here are a few more good ones:

(Actually the only version of the interview sketch that I can find on YouTube is different than the one I remembered. I thought he was tormenting Graham Chapman?)

One of my favourite short sketches is "The Man Who is Alternately Rude and Polite", but that doesn't seem to be available on YouTube either,

If there's a funnier movie than Life Of Brian, I have yet to see it...

Holy Grail has its moments as well...

And, of course, arguably the best comedy scene of all-time...

Did that watery tart, The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, hold aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water and declare this 'The Official' thread?

Greatest comedy troupe of all time. Greatest sketch comedy show of all time. Some of the funniest films ever made. Changed the landscape of comedy forever, true pioneers.
Imagine saying this when I Think You Should Leave exists.

But for real - movies are great, some of their sketches are terrific... but man there's a lot of filler in their show. Hit/miss rate is that of like a Sammy Sosa style slugger. When they hit it went far, but damn they whiffed a lot more than they hit.

They may still have it on sale, but Amazon has the complete series on Blu-ray for $55.

As for filler, I don’t doubt it. I really enjoyed something like KITH, but sketch comedy is tough, not everything lands.

Considering SNL is approaching 50 seasons and 1000 episodes, I think it's fair to say it's the greatest sketch comedy show of all time...

Meaning Of Life was trash...

I saw it once about 25 years ago, and have seldom given it a moment's thought since

SNL has had 6 'core' casts and only 3 of them were funny. It hasn't been watchable since Will Ferrell left.
