Do I think Tocchet is as bad a coach as his record. Nope.
In Tampa he was below expectations/team level.
In Arizona he probably marginally exceeded expectations vs team level.
In Vancouver he pretty much met expectations bang on vs team level.
The evidence when really boil it down? Points to him being probably a very mid-level coach.

This isn't a commentary on Tocchet as a coach but so far. I'm finding the narrative put out about Tocchet so far by the Flyers propaganda machine nauseating. Especially from alumni such as Chris Therien. I just read a blog on how it will be a different atmosphere with Tocchet versus Tortorella. Now rebelling against Tortorella when previously he was a coaching "God" here and the teams "spiritual advisor" Now all of Tortorella's flaws are being recognized as a way of propping up Tocchet as a coach. Why are they slow to realize what many fans, myself included knew on the day that they hired Tortorella. Now they have their new savior. What could go wrong. I don't think there is any limit or rock bottom to the Flyers incompetence and flat out attempts at manipulation.

Exactly. The full-blown pirouette heel turns on personnel this front office does is nausea inspiring. John Tortorella came to the Flyers and did exactly what John Tortorella has always done. It was wonderful before but now he is evil incarnate. The PR director should become the PP director to get the same level of energy and creativity.
You can check the accuracy of the atomic clock by the Flyers turning on players and coaches. They are a petty chunk of people.
They also knew exactly what he would be and they were thrilled about it. Clarke couldn't get in touch with a reporter to blather about how wonderfully terribly players will be treated any faster than he did.
I find it hard to blame Tortorella for being exactly who he has always been, and doing everything the Flyers hired him to do and told him to do. It's extremely gross for the team to run him over for executing their ideas.
