This is going to be another long year. We will easily be last in our division again, and it won't be close.
HuGo will tell Molson that it will take longer than expected to complete a true rebuild. That will buy HuGo more time and paycheques because once the mission has been accomplished, Molson will have no more need of them.Seriously? You want to be dissapointed again? Sell the kids, trade for vets, contend right away.
doesn't matter, the habs will pick all forwards next year lolWho are the best defenseman or goaltenders for next year?
I don't want to like your post because in reality, I hate it passionately, but that's not your fault. No point to tank if our drafting is going to be this bad.
Well maybe we could flippin' draft better if we knew how to tank. The massive fail last season was the tank and the excuses that went along with our inability to do it properly. We are a team who has always been "above it" are not masters at it like some. Why tank when we can't draft.
Never draft for need, always draft BPA. Hughes is doing the opposite. Burn this whole thing down.
1OA and 5OA in the last two years and we walk away with a bag of peanutsWell maybe we could flippin' draft better if we knew how to tank. We aren't tanking this season and if we weren't hampered with injuries last season indications are we weren't tanking then.If they really wanted to tank they shouldn't have traded for Newhook.
They did, they drafted the BPA on their list @ 5Never draft for need, always draft BPA. Hughes is doing the opposite. Burn this whole thing down.
I see what you did thereThey did, they drafted the BPA on their list @ 5
Yeah, we still have trading chips too. Tons of depth everywhere, at every level, but a lack of top end talent. In that light, the Newhook deal makes a lot of sense: we traded/overpaid with some secondary pieces in the hope AH can become a primary piece.I don’t see us tanking next year. I’d rather see some wheeling and dealing this summer and a “let’s see what happens” approach to the season. Let’s root for some Ws!
If it’s clear we are short of the playoffs then by all means feel free to sell some non-core assets and root for the draft rank.
My latest specific gripe is against all the low-value prospects we’ve got. Arpon Basu and company were raving about the “more darts for the dartboard” strategy since 2017/2018 but tbh we just have more fillers and space occupiers. Norlinder, Ylonen, Farrell, etc. Nobody moves the needle, not even our first round picks from last year. We have no protagonists so might as well purge a lot of the lesser prospects somehow.
We don’t have trading chips — if we did we would’ve gotten PLD and actually upgraded our top6 with a significant player — but I hope we will soon have trade chips. We’ve been a poverty franchise for 25 straight years.Yeah, we still have trading chips too. Tons of depth everywhere, at every level, but a lack of top end talent. Too many forwards and defenseman so there should be some moves still.
This year was on every pro tanker's radar as the year to do it. We needed to sacrifice another season particularly with the weakish draft last season.1OA and 5OA in the last two years and we walk away with a bag of peanuts
I can't think of any team that has gone directly from multiple tank years (4 in your model) to the playoffs.People saying we cant tank again. Theres two more tanking coming. 2025-2026 we will be in PO. Not before
Probably between 5-10 this year, 10-15 year after ; then playoff. This year was on every pro tanker's radar as the year to do it. We needed to sacrifice another season particularly with the weakish draft last season.
Only management could have made it happen and it needed to be something planned before the season ever started...
Right Chicago Blackhawks.

We've actually seen the opposite in recent years habitual losers remained as such.
