HF Habs: The official 2023-2024 tank thread

San Jose is due to win a game (they're 1-8-1 in their last 10). Also, knowing how stupidly competitive the Habs are, I'm expecting us to at least win 1 of those 2 games, and 50-50 chance we OT lose the other game. Mark my words.

And we'll have to thank Armia, Anderson, Gallagher, and all our plugs to get us those wins.
I want to just laugh this comment off as crazy nonsense... but I'm terrified you may be right lol

Man, what a comeback win by Arizona. Down 4-1 going into 3rd, they score 6 goals in 3rd to win 7-4!

They're one point back now, but Montreal has a game in hand, which we play tonight against Toronto.

Tonight,

Toronto @ Montreal: I do expect Montreal to play a strong game, but we haven't really been able to stop Toronto's offense all year. We have one point against them this year.

NJD @ Ottawa: Senators got absolutely rolled by Florida, so hopefully they actually show some backbone tonight. NJD's are a beatable team this year.

Edmonton @ Calgary: Flames will lose. Their only hope is that Oilers are playing back-to-back, and Markstrom playing his best game.

Believe me, I'm terrified too. I'm so tired of being stuck in no man's land. Now, we're trending towards Buffalo of the last 13 years (little patches here and there, still sucking).

Doubt what exactly that a 19 year old whose been pacing for 66 points since Dec 16th (46 games) won't continue to improve both his play and his production? I mean everyone's free to have their opinion but it seems crazy to me that you'd think Slaf has touched his limits, and if he hasn't touched his limits then ppg numbers are certainly within his reach even if he's stuck with the 10th most productive defenceman in the NHL as the teams PP QB.
You mentioned Dach on the second line getting 70pts it's not Slaf I question at all.
You tell me when we last had players with those kinds of numbers spread over two lines?

Odds are we get our pick of Catton, Lindstrom, Ignila, Eiserman, Helenius. Any of them be good fit.

We're in need of a firward. And Lapointe is already in record saying this should be a draft where a good forward falls to us, with all the good D available.

But if there's a dman on the board that the scouts think is a stud number one D with offense and shutdown abilities, you take them over a player you project to be a good second line winger.

At any rate, probably not all of these players will pan out. So hopefully our scouts can project right. Catton is small. But he's said to be electric. if he's the next Patrick kane, Artemi Panaterin, Kucherov, or Kaprizov, he's probably BPA and can help us win - including in the playoffs.

This is a huge draft. Because if we can stay healthy next year I think we will be a bubble team. Hopefully we can draft a good piece, even an elite piece.

It's out of my hands, but hopefully our pick and the Jets pick are as high as possible. 5th and 20th, even 19th, are still in sight. But are in precarious positions right now. Last night the Yotes beat the knights. That brings us closer to 5th, but further from 19th/20th. Vegas needed those two points to close within 4 if the previously reeling Jets. Now they're 6 back....

Calgary vs Edmonton is like Ottawa vs Toronto
The underdog often puts a decent game together.

Let's hope it's a grand, triumphant return.

But I mention the injury because it can be part of the reason for a team skid.
