this is my "beef" with how things transpired. maurice said he talked to both chevy and chipman last summer over his position on the team & if he's the right person. imo if a person of power, a supposed leader has any inkling of moving on, or questioning if they can lead a team or do this - you have to start looking for replacement. it tells me their heart isn't in it anymore, and that's ultimately was led to maurice quitting.
we had about 65% of the season left when maurice quit, and were not out of it by an insurmountable amount of points. in a year where we were hyped to be a contender, & chevy spending nearly ~$10M + draft picks on Schmidt & Dillon, + likely desperate for that PO $$$, he figured the best person to turn the season around was Lowry?
