The number zero (0 or 00)

Zero goes back to the year 1200 and Fibonaci.

You can't have complex numbers without an "origin", and that origin should be 0.
What do you mean back to the year 1200?

Hindus (or is it Arabs?) and Mayans had it way before then. Or are you referring to something else more specifically?

When I started going to pro hockey games in the IHL in November of 1964, the goalies were usually #1 and #20. There were 9 forwards and 5 Dmen dressed for games. With roster expansion over the years, goalies started being #29 or #30 in addition to #1.

BTW, the IHL season started in November in those ancient days, when refrigeration wasn't as good as it is now, even in a 5000 or 8000 seat arena.
Love hearing about the old days from people who got to experience it firsthand.

Who was the best player you saw that never made it to the NHL?

NHL also does not like 69 for some strange reason, I thought everyone liked the number 69?
Worn each of the last two years. SJ may have had someone in camp that wore it too IIRC

Year 1200 for Europe.

The Arabs invented the figures for the numbers we use, as you probably know, we use Arabic numerals, like 2.

You are correct about the Mayans!

I once had a chemistry student from Mexico who told me that he could not handle the math in Chem 100. I told him that people from what is now Mexico invented the # 0.
He stuck it out and showed improvement.

Hindus invented other symbols. One was corrupted by a certain political party in Germany during the 1930s and 1940s.

Mark Van Guilder was called up for 1 game by Nashville in 2013-14. He always looked like a NHL caliber player to me. The kind that would get you 20 to 30 points a year. I have seen dozens of them come through Milwaukee.

Fred Berry played 3 games for the DRW. He had 3 consecutive seasons for Milwaukee where he scored 106, 112 and 122 points in 76 games or less.

For absolute zero NHL games I would have to pick Fredo's team mate, Danny Lecours. He had 4 seasons of greater than 90 points in the IHL. Danny was 5'6" and 165 pounds. That size held him back. His number was retired by the Admirals.

Danny is a very nice man. I have not seen him in person for a few years. He may have retired from construction and moved away. He would be 70 in October.

Oh really? That symbol used in Jainism? 😏

I think I shall always remeber the year 1200 for Europe now. I could never remember it no matter how many times I read about it! You taught me well. Danke.
