Watching this kid yesterday against Canada made me think he's worth his own thread, because clearly his play is going to get people talking (good or bad).

My initial thought was he reminds me of Tootoo for Canada back in the day. Relentless on the forecheck and crosses the line now and then.

If he can keep it within the rules he is going to be a big part of the Swiss team and start discussions. I bet this thread is active after the first Swiss game. (Unless the mods think this is dumb and therefore am sorry.)

If he keeps it up he'll be suspended or one of our players will set him straight. Back in '03 it was different.

I love the way he plays. Guys like him just don't seem to do well penalty wise in international tournaments. Guy I'm going to keep an eye on for sure. Got under team Canada's skin in that game.

He got under Canada's skin a bit but only goaded Virtanen into a penalty and didn't really draw any others. Ran around a bit but wasn't very effective. I expect better games out of him in the tournament as I was a fan of his throughout the year last year.

Kind of surprised he's already been drafted, in the second round no less.

Looking at just his stats, he doesn't seem like a scorer (3 points in 28 games in the Swiss League in his draft year) or the pest type (only 8 PIM in his draft year).

Kind of wondering what San Jose was thinking when they took him so high.

3 pts in 28 games is not impressing but playing in NLA as a 17 years old is very impressive!

Yeah who knows. Sharks fan consensus is that he was the worst pick of our 2014 draft. I don't think his potential is higher than a 4th liner at best in the NHL.

Funny thing is if a Canadian picked a head or finished his checks with hands in the face you'd have people starting threads about Canadian's sending goon squads.

I liked his game. Like him as an NHL prospect but in the international game he can get his team into trouble in a hurry.

Didn't he go after Morin's jaw last game? Pretty messed up.

Wish there was fighting because Morin would have tuned that little bugger up (if Morin didn't have a surgically repaired jaw).

This.
And as a reaction, they screamed that someone should go after his head. Apparently, only Canadians are allowed to play a rough style. That happend multiple times during the game but no words about it..
