After the trade of Spencer Knight to Hawks, the idea has come up that we are barren in the pipeline, but we have 5 prospects in total selected in the last few drafts or signed as NCAA FAs. These are the guys currently moving through the system with our Goaltending Excellence team:

Cooper Black

Yeah who knows with goalies but Black's combination of size and athleticism seems really intriguing. The guy is huge even for a goalie, and he's had great numbers in the AHL this calendar year.

I would love to know what adjustments Black made to his game because his numbers prior to this year are pretty bad.

All in on Black. If he can be stationary in the net and not be all over the crease, his size has the potential to be at least a solid 1b goalie.
He's likely still 2 years away from playing 20-25 NHL games a year though, would like to see him get a couple NHL games early on next season.

We should draft a goalie every year like we have been doing for the last 6 or so years.

Furthermore, for the backup position I'd try to sign a guy like Mike DiPietro (Group 6 FA I believe) or Cayden Primeau (might be a FA I'm not sure) to battle for backup. Those guys are 26 with good/great AHL numbers and would come pretty cheap. If they end up sucking we could probably trade for a different backup goalie later if needed.

Looks like we have to sign Gerasimyuk or else we lose his rights, right? I agree with others though. Draft a G and some D each year. Both take forever to develop if they even do. Forwards are easier to fill in unless its top end role.
