OT: The Music Thread Part Xi

Just got back from a wedding in my adopted home state….and I’m feelin’ frisky so it's time for some Ray Wylie Hubbard. Great place to go in May, not so much in August. But man, even after 35 years that state still has its hooks in me…..

....and here's another one. You're welcome. Me and the missus did a fair amount of two stepping to this one, this past weekend.

It’s nice to see a little VH, AC/DC, and Motörhead in here lately.
Never much talk of the greatest guitarists. Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Angus Young and Zakk Wylde.
Not much on Mick either who influenced them all especially Randy

Randy mentioned some players that he admired, like Michael Schenker, Gary Moore, and Leslie West. Who else did he talk about?

“Mick Ronson. If you listen to the end of You Can’t Kill Rock and Roll, it’s basically an homage to Mick Ronson’s playing on the Bowie tune Moonage Daydream.”

"Kelle" Rhoads said about Mick Ronson influence on Randy, who Rhoads saw playing at Bowie's now famous show at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in October 1972: "When Mick Ronson held his finger on the guitar with one hand and walked it around the stage during 'Moonage Daydream,' that made a big impression on Randy. It looks good, sounds good, it makes really great theatre. Randy ended up getting a Les Paul very similar and a hairstyle very similar to Mick Ronson."

I think Richie Blackmore was also one of his influences. Hard to believe I was in High School when Randy died. It seems like a lifetime ago.
Think of all that Randy influenced. The great Zakk is heavily influenced by him. Zakk is actually my age and is the best active guitarist. My opinion.

Eddie apparently said Randy was ripping him off. Not a great fan of Eddie's. Great guitar player. Not sure about the human being.

Maybe not the greatest human being ever. He was, however, the greatest guitarist ever.
1- Eddie Van Halen
2- Randy Rhoads
3- Zakk Wylde
4- Slash
5- Angus Young

Now, I'm up in San Francisco
Wonderin' where I oughta be
And I wonder what happened to the man inside
The real old Texas me

But you just can't live in Texas
If you don't have a lot of soul
