OT: The Music Thread: Part XI

I don't begrudge ZZ Top deciding to chase a buck and going toward the commercialized overproduced, MTV genre that almost killed Rock N Roll in the 80s. I'm glad that they finally got the widespread recognition they deserved, even if it was partially because of women shaking their asses on a video with a badass car....

But for me, it was a tough pill to swallow. Me and my buddies wore the grooves out of this record...Yeah it had Waiting for the Bus/JJLC, and La Grange on it. But here's a few more that didn't get airplay...

wore the grooves out indeed. a great record

We wore out Deguello too...

I spent most of high school and college in Texas and those 2 records had a lot of heated debate amongst my friends over which one was better... Deguello had Manic Mechanic on it, which in my opinion, is the worst song ZZ Top ever made, so I was firmly on the Tres Hombres side of the debate....but damn, Fool For Your Stockings is just SO good. I saw Stevie Ray do a cover of that once and it blew my mind....

Tres Hombres after school in my native MI.

Yes, a lot of MTV was crap, but I loved it just the same.

By then I was at Emerson,

I was crestfallen to hear "Never Mind the Bollocks" eminating from a frat house whilst making my way down Beacon Street (that's where the dorms were then).

Here's a little nugget for Replacements fans.......A bonus track from their Deluxe Edition of Let it Be that didn't make the original release. No Idea why. I think its one of their better songs. Classic Mats, at their finest.

And a Bonus Track from Tim as well.....You're Welcome.

Thank you, sir.

I shall listen with alacrity.

Does the Captain #63 have a say?

Then come back home this summer

I'll be back, just save a seat for me"

It's amazing that once upon a time Steve Earl was handsome.
