Even the deep cuts I wrote back in the early 70's are fantastic. That's why I am my favorite songwriter of all time. I could write a story and paint a vivid picture in like 3 minutes.

Not a musician in the sense that some here are. For the life of me, I don't see how the Kinks thought the Doors ripped them off (look it up).
Then again I don't know anything about chord progressions, arranging, etc.
I like both songs. And I like the fact that the fractious Davies brothers produced what might be called proto-punk in 1964/65.
Far more sophisticated pop music & lyrics were to come from this most British of bands, but these are still my favorite Kinks singles.
Sly as they were, the Kinks enjoyed trafficking in exuberant garage noise in those early singles.
And they were glorious.
(BTW, Look up the definition of "kink" in your dictionary.)

I love Lola, it is one of my brother's favourite songs. For some reason, he never realized it was about a transvestite - so funny, he was very shocked. I guess it happens when people don't really pay attention to lyrics.
