OT: The Movie/TV/Streaming Thread

Ehh. The 2nd season wasnt all that great.
Many people dislike season 2. But I have to completely disagree. I love season 2 because it shows another aspect of the city and gives the story more depth.

If anything season 5 was the weakest, imo. The McNulty serial killer arc was maybe a bit much. But I still love the entire show. Rewatch it once every year and never get tired of it.

I really enjoyed season 2 of the wire. The Sobotkas were fantastic. Ziggy is such a f***up.

Season 5 and the McNulty stuff was definitely the weakest part, but even that was worth it for the scene where the FBI is profiling the ‘killer’ and McNulty realizes that they’re just describing him.

Yeah, the Sobotka storyline was great. The show has so much rewatch value because there are so many memorable characters with so much depth. Just incredible writing.

Season 5 had some great moments, for sure.

I've never got around to watch David Simon's other project The Deuce which also got great reviews. Will have to binge that show someday.
I've watched a bit of We Own This City, but it didn't hook me as much as The Wire did.

Watching Ripley right now. I had only seen Andrew Scott in one other movie (that I could remember him) before called A Dark Place, and he was amazing in what was an otherwise just ok movie. Made me want to watch Ripley when I saw he was in it.

The show is definitely a bit ... meandering? Only half way through, but so far it just feels like Ripley doesn't actually have any goals of his own - he's an opportunist and just drifts through life. I've never seen any other Ripley movies so I'm new to this universe. Pretty decent though.

Just sayin'...

The “kid” from that season was a let down. He played such a great character in Generation Kill, then either put out that performance was told to go that route. Just a bummer.

The Ziggy character? I didn't mind him. I think he was meant to be a bit obnoxious. The escalation at the end was pretty impactful I think.
