Not sure about most underrated but Chris Tanev is a huge reason why the Leafs have the 2nd best GAA in the league.
IMO people just don't understand how good Tanev is until they watch his games consistently over a long period of time.

The stats have a difficult time showing just how much calm he brings to a defence core. Hes improved every single D partner that he's played with and has a very underrated first pass out of his own end.

Two things you almost never hear together are "Chris Tanev" and "Failed to clear the zone". There is a reason Quin Hughes was so excited about the rumours of "dad" returning at the TDL last year

Nah, there’s some advanced stats people like Dom who literally rank Parayko as among one of the 5 worst contracts in the league, which is crazy. A lot of people read that stuff and think he fell off, when in reality he just gets insanely hard usage and doesn’t get much help on the Blues. But he’s definitely still a legit shutdown guy.
I guess everyone has detractors, ha ha. I do think that most people who do more than stat watch know that Parayko is very good, so I still wouldn't call him the most underrated when there are legitimately good defensemen who most people think are awful, and some very good defensemen who a lot of fans don't even know.
