Post-Game Talk: The milquetoast regular season ends … are better things ahead?

Its quite clear, and easy to figure out. If this season results are put into 2pt/game alotted then the Oilers had 12 Extra time wins wherein they got 2pts and which they would only have 1pt in former NHL pts awarded. So 12 less pts brings us to only 89pt season. Its an appreciable difference. For those not familiar in the past you got 2pts for a W 1pt to each club for tie games, and zero pts for a loss.
It’s not a convincing argument. If there was no overtime maybe they would have played a different game from the start.

And you notice that I never said the 100 point season comparison was good either. But at least they include the same three digits.

End of a Long time Cali rivalry. Perry probably had a ton of respect for him as they entered the league a couple years apart and played each other a ton in Perry’s Anaheim days
Sharks broadcast was discussing it irt. Their ice level guy said Perry asked him early in the third period ‘Couts is coming down, right’ and then later ‘you’re making sure Couts comes down, right’. Seemed like they had a ton of respect for Perry too.

He seems to be the kind of veteran that knows these things are really important. Teaching the club moments still there. Duncan Keith did some of that, Pat Maroon did some of that, even Mike Smith.

Something about Perry. I didn't want him back, I was wrong.
Man I eat a full bowl of crow on him this year. What an example he has set.

Perry loves the game. Hope he can rub off more on the rest of our players. Lots of guys seemed just off and not having fun this year. Perry played like every game mattered to him.
Both road games I got to see this year, Perry was the very last off the ice in pre-game warmup. Looked like a big kid just enjoying the moment at an outdoor rink.

A lot of players that knew that they were playing their last or near last season have mentioned that they really began to appreciate the game again in the last few years, all the little things that were just part of the job, like practices and pre game warmups, became special, because the guys realized that they would soon not be a part of their daily lives. Good for him to enjoy it and take it all in before he begins the next chapter in his life. Never in a million years would I thought I’d ever say this, but I’m really glad that Perry became an Oiler.
