Not just scapegoating here.

But I have never seen a player in any sport with such little poise and composure. He really lacks any sort of a hockey IQ. I see people saying Trade Girardi, and I am like are you kidding me? Del Zotto is the weakest link - he was easily outplayed by Anton this year. What a disaster of a player for all that "talent"

trade him offense. he's still young teams will take a chance on him. he's our 6TH best d man with everyone healthy

His regular season was completely fine.

He's mentally weak. When he's confident and riding high he's fantastic, the opposite when he's in a funk. Don't think his IQ is bad.

I think that the Rangers brass will be huddling and trying to make a decision on this.

I don't know. I am not a hockey expert. As a simple observer, I think that MDZ could be really good in a couple of years.
He could also be really good as a trade component really soon.

Who knows. Should he be traded, or should he be considered as a diamond in the rough, whose sheer talent will be revealed in a couple of seasons more?

I say trade him, if the trade gets the Rangers what they need. Only if the trade is right.

When you score one goal it's hard to blame anyone on the D. The kid is 22 years old and is far from our biggest problem.

When everyone is healthy he is our #6. Does everyone really think that our #6 dman is our biggest problem?

Yup.

He's still rather young. 23 isn't exactly old, especially for a D.

He'd flourish with a team like Detroit or Ottawa.

Moore is making him expendable. By no means am I comparing the two, but I like Moore's aggressiveness when given the shot on the power play and he's proven enough to me in the short time that I'd be comfortable moving forward with him for sure. McDonagh/Girardi...Staal/Stralman...Moore/McIlrath next season. Send MDZ and get some offensive help please.

We need help up front. Del Zotto, apart from his mental weakness, is slow as molasses. He's also awful in his decisions on the power play. If he has trade value, I says trade him. Number 6 defensemen can be replaced easily.

I don't want to trade Girardi, he's the best physical defenseman we have, he's a warrior and he's durable.

agreed...but i also think he's our most tradeable defenseman. We can live without him...we can't really live without Staal or MCD. Staals loss was just ridiculous this year. We need him...badly.

Agree 100%. Outside of Callahan and Staal, I feel his play best defines this team.

Now imagine we lose Staal again.... Except this time we don't have a Del Zotto to take some minutes... What a nightmare.

For people who want him traded, youre all saying we didn't have the depth and we got eliminated because of it, so now you want to trade that depth away??? Our defense this playoffs with Staal/Stralman out would have been:

McD-Girardi
Moore-Eminger
Hamrlik-Gilroy?

Ouch. He's not expendable. So enough of this ********.

Missing Stralman, but yikes that defense corps look downright ugly without MDZ/Staal.

While this is true, I feel like finding a vet 6th D isn't as hard as Sather makes it look. (Yeah, Hamrlik isn't what I, or anyone for that matter, had in mind).

We've been discussing for quite some time the likelihood that we eventually trade one of our defenseman. I think based on age and perceived upside, Del Zotto may be the most attractive piece.

I'm not actively hoping that we move him, but I'm certainly open to the idea. Anyone other than McDonagh, really, and I think you have to consider it.

He was almost as bad as Hamrlik today and thats saying a lot, surprisingly offers nothing on the PP, should learn what offsides is

He's starting to wear thin on me.

Every year we say:

"hes just 19"
"hes just 20"
"hes just 21"
"hes just 22"

Well you know what, he is not improving. His offense has not come around, and his defense while getting better yes, but hes still so inconsistent.

I wouldnt object to moving him to be honest in the offseason if we get a good return.
