If you look around your house there’s a chocolate milk lying around. Don’t mid the small piece of cheap wood.

Also, if you knew anything about us, you’d know to bait with a can or a brown bottle. Green bottles basically scream Heineken…..

Prices have gone completely apeshit, so I'm doing my best at estimating here. Also tried to limit it to stuff I think PA carries. Balvenie Doublewood 12 should be $50. Apparently it's $74 at Total Wine now????

Compass Box Glasgow Blend $35
Monkey Shoulder $40
Glennmorangie Original $35
Glenfidditch 12 also comes in a 375, which might be helpful since you're unsure.

If prices are appropriate then try these, but I am very concerned after seeing the Doublewood price:

Talisker 10 This stuff is downright briny.
Arran Sherry Cask
Bruichladdich Classic Laddie
Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10
Bunnahabhain 12

Control states like PA also end up putting tasting sets out on Clearance sometimes, which is a nice way to try things.

I would read some tasting notes because there's huge variation here. I've seen Glasgow Blend described as "Band Aids and asparagus" by someone who liked it for example. It can get weird in a hurry.

Tough with pricing. I’ve got bottles I’ve had for years, they aren’t daily sippers - but under a 100$ is tough. 100-150 (CAD mind you) is a nice area imo, and it’s really a beautiful journey to try the different regions! You won’t regret it! I had someone once tell me to not be able to spend a few extra bucks, and you really do notice the difference. It’s not like you’re buying these every week like a Budweiser.

I’d hope there is a liquor place near you that maybe offers some tastings before purchase.

Anyway…

-Kilchoman Machir Bay
-Bruichladdich Laddie or Port Charlotte
- Bunnahabhain
- Lagavulin

All will kick your ass with a bit of smoke. You’ll love it or hate it, but it’s worth a taste. The Isla region is probably my favourite.

Highland has grown on me a lot as well, but careful with heavy sherry influence makers, I’m not too into those:

-Balblair 12 is a scotch I’d put against legit anything. Love it.
-The Clynelish I posted above
-Oban 14

Balvenie is a Speyside scotch fairly nice as well.
@BiggE likes his Macallan.

I’ve often heard that with a splash of water they taste better. I’ve always been too chicken shit to try it, if it wastes it.

Probably best to start with something smooth and easy and not ridiculously expensive. I would suggest either Balvenie 14 year old Caribbean cask or Glenfiddich 15 year old solera reserve.
