Post-Game Talk: The Mayor of Tampa does it again - Leafs win 4-3

If Tampa win out and they end up tied in points, Tampa would win the RW tiebreaker. Leafs need to get six points in their remaining games if Tampa wins out.

Yeah, as mentioned above, I misread Florida’s RW for Tampa. That said if we win 2 games Tampa has to run the table

He is an alpha not bc he scored a hatty against TB. He is an alpha bc he pointed out what the team was lacking the night before and backed up his words the next night.

Don’t confuse talents with being an Alpha. As of today both AM and MM are betas chokers pretending to be Alphas.
Each player on the line had 3 points and were big parts of the win.

Montreal will be on a second leg of a back to back. Wings and Sabres "should" be very beatable.

Fair chance Leafs win the division. Florida would be smart to toss the game against Tampa in an attempt to draw the Leafs, just like Boston did last year.
Doubtful that game means anything. Ottawa would have to gain 5 points on Florida to move past them because Florida has 3 more RW’s and Florida’s next three games are at home against non playoff teams.

Not really.

Not at the risk of injury. They won the game without it.
Really? LOL. OMG that’s crazy. Why was he even out there? Your theory is to let the other team walk down broadway and don’t even try to defend?

There’s a reason the majority of the leagues best players don’t PK, and it seems you’re just learning it.

So why was he out there? Should he have just stayed a center ice?

I think you're confusing Matthews with Stolarz.

One gets paid to block shots, one gets paid to score. If you're going to blame the forward for not blocking every shot why do you need a goalie? Imagine 6 players on the ice who will always block every shot. It's basically like a 60 minute powerplay! :sarcasm:

Hagel isn’t close to being SEVEN (7) times more valuable than Knies.

But he costs SEVEN (7) times more than Knies.
Nylander makes 11.5

He’s not even CLOSE to being 11.5 times more valuable than knies either.

that’s such a stupid thing to say

Except there was never any rumours of Knies being traded for Nylander - - unlike the rumours of a Knies for Hagel trade.

You’re trying too hard, my friend.

So that ref looked wrong way, eh? He did not follow the play and the puck, which is kind of unnatural, everyone is puck watching, missed cross check and boarding on Robertson, but somehow seen infractions close to the net? But not all infractions, just McMann retaliation? Point also used his stick just before that. So he actually was actively looking for opportunity to give Tampa pp, instead of following the play. I don’t remember the phrase for this selective vision…. Ah… Turning blind eye? Yes?

Fun fact. Tampa got all pp and was not called for any of their stick infractions or interference. Only one pp leafs got was high stick right in front of two officials who somehow missed even that and needed to huddle to get the call.
The neutral zone ref caught the cross-check. The ref in the zone followed the play into the corner, and didn't call anything, because there wasn't a penalty on that play that needed to be called.

McMann didn't retaliate. He was the instigator - he cross-checked Point high first, which was the one that was called.

If you're a good defensive forward, you're probably being asked to PK. Marner's been doing it since his second year in the league, and he's pretty good at it, along with Kampf. The problem is the Leafs let their other good PK'ers leave...

Also, I'd like to remind you that the Leafs used to PK with Mats Sundin and Alex Mogilny...

How many Hart's/Ted Lindsay's between them?

I'm going to take a wild guess and say 0.

Sure, PKing is one thing.

But going off on Matthews for 2 days for not blocking back to back shots while shorthanded (he blocked the first) in a game where he has 3 points and assists the game winner a week before the playoffs seems like an agenda to me personally.

Yes and I never said the line was carried by Knies or the other two played like crap.

I just said Knies is an alpha who spoke up about what’s the team was lacking the night before after a terrible loss and backed that up with his play the next night. While pointing out that AM and MM were not alphas when I replied the other poster, bc their past playoffs exp showed that they are just Betas chokers playing and being paid like Alphas. Knies won as many playoffs series as AM and MM. heck Knies won more playoffs series than AM and MM combined if you compare their ELC years.

When had AM, MM, Willie, JT and even Reilly came out after a loss like Panthers the other night and said we played SOFT and then back up with a Hatty the next game while being physical and didn’t play SOFT.

Lastly, Jordan needs his Pippen, Rodman, Kerr, Toni, Grant and Armstrong to win his rings. Nothing wrong with AM, MM, Willie, JT and Reilly playing the Pippen, Rodman role to Knies.

None of them play a physical game to call the team soft so there’s that but I definitely agree with you

If marners prone to mistakes on it last game was a glaring one he chose to dive for a pucc he could have skated to and it ended up in the bacc of the net but your right we let the good ones go

Sure, but Marner Knies and Mathews being alphas?
There is no difference.
Diff is MM and AM are not Alphas unless the meaning of Alpha is choking and disappearing in elimination games.
When had AM and MM came out and actually said what really happened in a game, called out the team for being soft then the next night backed up what was said with action and leading the team.

No doubt AM and MM are talented just like Kurri, Brad Richards, Stamkos…heck probably even better than them but those mentioned all won by playing the Pippen role on their team. If AM and MM are alphas, they would had at least won ONE more playoffs series by now or actually dominated a series or a few games the past eight playoffs.

All this can change this playoffs, but right now they are betas chokers.

No, we don't have to change the meaning of alpha.

Because they don’t announce it to the press doesn’t mean they don’t think it.
Knies, Matthews and Marner all stepped up. Actions are what matter not sound bites.

They do speak up, like we didn’t get the bounces, we played well, good lessons(JT)….

Just going to agree to disagree with you on that

All good.

I can imagine the reaction there would be if Matthews or especially if Marner called the team out.
It would be off the charts.
