Yeah I don’t really understand why they were getting in the middle of it. Last I checked fighting is allowed and one got a couple shots in, stopping them before the guy who got hit can throw is bush league.

I've seen them jump in when a player's helmet looks like it's about to come off, or is about to come off.

But last night felt like 2 willing combatants unloading on each other. Let 'em go.

Yes I’m familiar with the tie breakers, I think I accidentally looked at Florida’s RW column instead of Tampa.

The Leafs are not going to go 1-3 against Montreal, Carolina, Buffalo and Detroit. It just won't happen.

They won and all credit goes to them for showing up but to call out the people who saw the same warts this team has after the Panthers game is not fair. Like I said, they won on a skills competition that could have gone either way.

They'll get WC1. All we need to find out is whether the Panthers will drop to WC1. If not, they get their most favourable matchup.

If we win 3 of 4, even if TB wins all 4 games, we finish first. Our destiny is in our hands. Don't leave it to Florida that last game, cause you know they're going to tank that game to play us rather than Tampa.

IMO they all but have 1st locked up. Hopefully they draw the Sens.

No chance Florida drops. I think the only relevant question is whether Montreal catches Ottawa. I wonder if Ottawa risks leaving Brady out of tomorrow night's game.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but if Marner, Matthews or Nylander blew the zone in OT like Kuch did on the winning goal it would be 10 pages of how selfish said player is.
He almost cost TB too many many on the same sequence with a fake line change and blew the zone after Vasi made the save on Mo and left Matthews open.

Kutch played OK but he could not hit the side of a barn last night. He is very shifty with the puck but defense is not his forte. Was also surprised to see Hedman blow the zone and leave Knies all alone for the tap in.

we're 5th in the league in share of penalty minutes taken... while being 1st in our division, and not particularly dirty. Interesting that 4 of the top 5 teams are also top 5 in NHL market valuation (though Chicago is also terrible).

You forgot OEL became the dirtiest dman in the league since joining the Leafs...Chara dirty, but with the penalties to show for...

It is very hard for a team to make up a 4 point deficit with only 4 or 5 games remaining.

If we win just two games out of four, it forces Tampa to run the table. We certainly are in a great spot with that win.

Montreal will be on a second leg of a back to back. Wings and Sabres "should" be very beatable.

Fair chance Leafs win the division. Florida would be smart to toss the game against Tampa in an attempt to draw the Leafs, just like Boston did last year.

Got to be honest - didn't have much issue with officiating last night, and was surprised by the reactions.

In that McMann sequence, Bobby absolutely deserved the extra 2; the live camera shot missed it, but coming back from commercial you could see McMann absolutely smoked Point in the chest+chin with a cross-check, which is a penalty all day.

Because we were all watching the Robertson sequence, I'm guessing many missed it, but that sequence was correctly called.

The only mistake the refs made there was breaking up the fight just as McMann looked like he was about to unload on Point

So that ref looked wrong way, eh? He did not follow the play and the puck, which is kind of unnatural, everyone is puck watching, missed cross check and boarding on Robertson, but somehow seen infractions close to the net? But not all infractions, just McMann retaliation? Point also used his stick just before that. So he actually was actively looking for opportunity to give Tampa pp, instead of following the play. I don’t remember the phrase for this selective vision…. Ah… Turning blind eye? Yes?

Fun fact. Tampa got all pp and was not called for any of their stick infractions or interference. Only one pp leafs got was high stick right in front of two officials who somehow missed even that and needed to huddle to get the call.

That only works for Florida if Ottawa wins out, and I don't see that happening.

I was talking about Florida Ottawa scenarios with Ottawa overtaking Florida for 3rd in division.

After Florida game my comment was that they conserved energy (and better goalie) for Tampa as it was much bigger impact game of the two. They almost got something out of Florida game playing on one leg. That was smart strategy and did not deserve that panic attack that ppl got into after Florida game.

I still have no idea what he was thinking. The last thing he sees before he fully commits to the turn is Rielly spinning back and about regain the puck after a saved shot. Did he really think Point was going to get possession and go up ice for a counterattack or that the guy coming from the bench would?

That was a nice win. Especially after yesterday. So weird the ref raised his arm after the Bolts boarding and the Leafs ending up shorthanded.

It was a very open game with just in the first ten minutes with two goals, multiple posts and several break away chances. I did not agree with the commentators that it was a play off like game. More like a track meet.

Exactly. Overtime’s a track meet. He should’ve scored on the 2 on 1 and there was no way he was getting back to break up the 2 on 1 at the other end of the ice.

If Tampa win out and they end up tied in points, Tampa would win the RW tiebreaker. Leafs need to get six points in their remaining games if Tampa wins out.
