BTW, not gonna complain about the refs, Tampa hit I think 5 posts. The hockey gods gave us a pass either way. Take the points and be positive. Now let's finish this.
The agent will tell us it was a discountHow much now? $8.93 mil for Gilmour or $9.13 mil for Sundin? Maybe $10.17 mil for Clark?![]()
Dubas said he was not going to do it. He just updated Shannan in conversation that they had this offer, and said obviously we would never do this. Friedman said that Knies was a non-starter for the Leafs. That said Hagel is a good player.Has there ever been any confirmation that he did so and what pieces were involved, or is it all speculation?
Standing for the entire overtime. What a game! Can’t imagine any fan not enjoying tonight’s win.
Those were some wild post shots too, Stolie was getting killed out there.BTW, not gonna complain about the refs, Tampa hit I think 5 posts. The hockey gods gave us a pass either way. Take the points and be positive. Now let's finish this.
Who y'all want? Ottawa or Montreal?

Right up there with Hagel at 6.5...................
Great post.I thought we played well. Tampa had its moments as well, but I felt like a lot of that was owed to line mismatches: Cooper using last change plus double-shifting Kucherov (he played 25 minutes tonight) to get him out against our bottom six. Not something to be dismissed but also not a recipe for success over a seven game playoff series. As well, despite the zone time, our bottom six did a good job collapsing in front of the net, blocking shots, and minimizing the damage.
All that said, I'd go back to the prior lines: Jarnkrok-Domi-Laughton / Lorentz-Holmberg-Robertson. I understand the desire to put Robertson into a more offensive role given our need for depth scoring, but that ship sailed IMO when Treliving failed to get a 3C at the deadline. Our best next hope is that the bottom six can be net neutral and Domi-Robertson together ain't that. Just too loose defensively.
Biggest concern tonight was the PK. Officiating was atrocious, yes, and the zebras gave a point to Tampa that they didn't deserve but that's been the case for years now. It's going to continue in the playoffs, just like it did when the refs missed that blatant DeBrusk knee-on-knee against Kadri, or called back Tavares' goal by calling Holl for a pick, or when Bennett chokeslammed Knies with nothing called. There is one rulebook for the Leafs and another for teams like Tampa, Boston, and Florida. Get used to it and find a way to kill the penalties. 50% on the PK is not good enough and has/will cost us a series.
Good news: We came out flying and seized control of the game. The top line showed up. Stolarz made some big saves. Knies continues to own the state of Florida. And, if my math is correct, we are one win/one Florida loss from clinching home ice and 3-1 will get us the division even if Tampa wins out.
That between the legs pass is going into the spank bank. That between the legs pass is going into the video vault.
Yup and Matthews and Marner as well 3 apples for Mathews and the opening goal for Marner as well as two helpers.Guess Knies is an Alpha.
Said the team needed to be better after a no show loss and then scored a hatty along with the OT winner the next night against a team that chasing them in the standings.
Kings.Who y'all want? Ottawa or Montreal?
I disagree. Knies has legit offensive skills and he's showing it this season. He's scoring around the net like Tavares does, he has a good shot, is creative, can skate and has puck handing skills. No reason why he can't be a very good offensive player and at least get close to being a 30 goal, PPG player. He's still only 22 so no reason to believe he can't continue to improve offensively as he gains more experience.I feel like I’m mentally deficient or something because in spite of the evidence I just can’t bring myself to believe Knies will ever be a true top tier player. For whatever reason, in my bones I don’t think he’ll ever put up a point per game season.
I don’t know why, and I will be very happy if/when proven wrong.

If Montreal starts to get close to Ottawa, expect the league to call a bullshit game or two to avoid Toronto/Montreal. That is maaaaaaaajor money having those 2 teams play at separate times.I can already see the amount of ads during the broadcast
Is it me, or when the Leafs collapse in their zone and allow the outside shots, it reminds me a lot of Randy Carlyle hockey. Maybe the difference being the goalie and a better defense. It kind of worries me.No business winning that game, but thank god they did
Future captain of the Leafs.I like your comment better than mine, lol.
Quite nice that Knies got the alpha attitude and maybe he will be the one who leads the Leafs
We need to find anotherHe's a real leader, hopefully he becomes the next captain.
