HF Habs: The Martin St Louis Thread

Way too early for the pull and also our last powerplay he should have left the powerplay on longer as it was clicking but decided to use the 2nd PP. That extra goal could have saved us the game.
Yeah that was nonsensical. It's a crucial game, you leave the first wave the whole time.

Where did you see this?
I'm not talking about this game especially. It was an article earlier this season, about the job of refs not being a nice one because fans always complains whatever they call. For the NHL, they were saying the game is too fast now and they can't catch everything so fans shouldn't be that harsh to them. They litterally believe it's the fans and players who are wrong and they are doing their best.

Well, if they were doing their best, what is going on with all the "can't follow my own rulebook" shit this year. It happened like 4 times this season that the refs made the wrong call for faceoff puck drop in a Hab game and forget the +2 for bleeding if you are a Hab (unless you did the high stick).

Hockey will only be better once they will be replaced by camera and AI (and it's going to call everything which is going to be funny at first).

I doubt A.I will be able to tell when a player is diving.

You need to train the AI with video footage and people telling them what is what. So the question is "can a human tell when a player is diving" and not the AI.

For example, a few years ago, they made a system with an AI for cow farmers that tell them their cows mood and if they have issues based on camera feeds. It took 200 people parsing videos for 6 months to train the AI.

Yes but after you train the AI on what is and isn't interference it's not going to call it differently because it's the 3rd period, or as a make up call, etc...

That said I don't expect AI refs anytime soon, and frankly that's for the best.

Martin admitted he doesn't have solutions any more.

Pascal Vincent will be an upgrade.

I would give Martin the first quarter of the season next season to see what kind of improvements he's going to bring into his coaching game next year.

If I dont see Demidov making his way into the first line and be the centrepiece of the club... c'est dewors, sa va faire lniasage, lala.

MSL said he’s not sure what to say to his team about the reffing after last nights game and was open to any suggestions anyone at the press conference had

one experienced manager from a football club gave this answer and i believe its the only good answer a coach can give in situations like these:

“these things happen, they’re part of the sport, we can only focus on the things we can control.” I’m paraphrasing…

Martin is uncapable of coaching a team in the playoffs. Next year he could be in the same situation or something else will happen which he wont have the tools to deal with.

He’s reached his ceiling as an NHL coach imo, he needs more experience in the lower leagues or another gig with a rebuilding team

Le niaisage is actually the fan base whining to get a new coach every 3 years.

No one thought the Habs would be even close to making the PO this year and the only reason people can still complained about MSL's coaching for the last week.....it's MSL's coaching, cause that's what brought this team to PO cause it was certainly not the quality of our line-up or superman type of goaltending.

So much hyperbole when you don't know what will happen this summer. What if *gasp* HuGo find a good 2C this summer via trade or else and Demidov plays with him? What if miraculously Dach take his training seriously and becomes who we thought he could be?

What if Slaf doesnt show up for the first 40 games of the season again?

What if we’re a bottom 5 team again?

Im not wishing for MSL’s failure but the flaws are obvious and he’s open about his flaws too

So idk

Guys.........easy on the doom and gloom.
Said it before...........Marty is developing as a coach, as the team develops their winning ways. It's a slow but moving forward process.

I disagree with some of the coaches decisions, but still feel he is a good coach.....flawed, but still a good coach. A players coach who has the respect of the guys in the room.

The team will get another set of changes this summer, and we will be fine moving forward. Our core of young players are amazing.

Now...........let's win game 5 and give the fans a Game 6 !!!!!!!!!

I find this "too early for the pull" discourse a bit nonsensical. There is no such thing as a "too early goalie pull". It's all just based on whether you score or not. There is no correlation between taking the goalie out later and having more chance of scoring lol.

Now the Caps scored and everyone critiques the early pull. It's nonsensical. You don't play to avoid being scored on with an empty net, you play to score 6 on 5.More 6 on 5 time gives you more chances of scoring. That's it.

Can we stop with this Marty is developing as a coach? He's already one of the better coaches in the NHL and this year he has showed that he's not just a development coach. Nitpicking every decision is a fools game and every coach would lose at that behavior.

All our young players have gotten better, team has fight and is resilient, implemented a three zone tactical concept that seems to be working, PP and PK are trending in the right direction.

Sure let's change the coach....

Some of these posts are hilarious.

It’s as if Marty did not coach a very young rebuilding team with poor depth to the playoffs years ahead of schedule.

It’s as if our important young players under 25 are not thriving.

It’s as if he’s not completely aligned and trusted by management of who by any objective measure have done an outstanding job rebuilding the franchise so far.

Simply put: His job is one of the most secure in the entire league now. Even if we miss the playoffs next year. Marty is going to be here a long time.
