HF Habs: The Martin St Louis Thread

Yep, the Jack Adams is basically the "will get fired soon" awards.

It's not unique to the jack Adams award. Getting hired anywhere is a "will get fired soon" award.

I'll say it again, msl is the 5th most tenured coach in the nhl right now. Let that sink in.

You could even argue Montgomery should be a candidate even though he got fired this year.... such is life as an nhl coach.

Montgomery getting a nomination would be such a f*** you to the Bruins.

And him getting an Adams nod would really highlight the fact that they scapegoated him for their own failures. I'd love to see it.

I remember when Montgomery gave it to marchand during a game along with a little shove to his back. You could tell he lost his marbles for a few moments, and it makes you wonder of some underlying issues there.

I personally think the bruins front office was desperately trying get the last drop of milk from an old cow and montgomery wasn't able to get wins anymore.

The coach bump worked temporarily but they ended up back to where they were originally with Monty and finally threw in the towel after that.

Mike Sullivan let go by the Pens. We should bring him in as an assistant coach.
11th!
Wait, Roy haven't been kicked out of the Isles yet. So 10th to lose his job in a one year frame so far.

Also, this bump MSL to 4th oldest tenure as HC in the league.

I absolutely hate that the league punishes and has people scared to call out referees for doing a dog shit job. They should be held accountable. Call it for what it is, they’ve been blowing it this series and it has heavily favoured the Capitals.
Good on Marty to atleast say that much
It's up to the Montreal Canadiens hockey opps to do pressure on the NHL department of player safety and the National Hockey League Officials’ Association. During their meetings with them.

Refs are crying about all the criticism they get already. They have bigger egos than players and coaches, and that's the true problem.

The goalie pull was brutal. We had all kinds of momentum, he just needed to wait for his boys to get possession. But maybe he thought he didnt have enough time to wait for them to set-up with only 5 guys and put it all on the line. Easy to say from my couch.

The goalie pull was fine. The habs won the faceoffs and got possession. Not Marty's fault, Hutson made the wrong decision on the play.

Hutson has the puck in this screenshot. He could've easily moved it to Caufield instead of doing an extra stickhandle and trying to pass it to Demidov.

I'd be pissed too if all I was doing was simply obeying league dictum. They're good boys who toe the line, so sure enough the league will do everything to protect them, shielding them from any criticism, as the league itself is the origin point for what is being criticized.

Still. A bit early for pulling. Hutson had a lot of forward pressure right off the faceoff which made him rush his decision. 9/10 he gets it, but the oft chance he doesnt, is that.

Then theres the gamble on the faceoff too.

A lot better of a decision to pull the goalie after the play is established down low. At worse you "waste" 10-20 seconds.

We had 18 shots all game, were creating hardly anything at even strength and both goals came on the power play.

With the faceoff in the offensive zone, it was the right move to load the line up and put out the extra attacker.
