HF Habs: The Martin St Louis Thread

You HAVE to make changes. Savard can't go anymore. Laine is useless if it's not working on the PP.
What changes? Everyone except Cole and Nick are essentially passengers. There's no forward shakeups that are going to create a useful line. We don't have the horses.

D is not an issue, changing savard or struble to xhekaj doesn't change the fact that most of the game is in our end and we can't generate offense.

We simply aren't good enough to compete for a cup this year.

Definitely not. But we can change what we know doesn't work. There's no sense just rolling over. Let's do something and spark the team. Worst case, result is the same.

Dvorak line works, Suzuki line works. We changed the other two lines and they're both still bad. Do you break up the lines that work to have four bad lines?

Suzuki’s line barely works and there’s one passenger on it.

The 1st pp does not work, the pp at this point is a 4vs 4

I'm OK with switching things up, yeah. What were currently doing isn't enough. Changing one player on a successful line doesn't mean that line is now bad. New isn't always bad.

And let's say we stick with the status quo. We'll almost certainly lose the series. Let's try something different and challenge the guys to step up.

This playoffs is as big of a development opportunity as you can find. We should absolutely have Kapanen and Xhekaj in. Demidov should get time on PP1 if Laine sits.

I get we’re focusing on winning, it’s hard not to. Gotta keep the eye on the prize though.

Terrible coaching….

It took an injury to Laine to understand he doesn’t belong on the ice.

That 6 on 5 looked so much better than the PP with Laine.

I said it before the PO, i dont see us winning a game with this coach behind the bench, he doesn’t understand whats going on or hes got a low coaching IQ

Well....if we have to go down might as well go down fighting, any change is better than no change

Any change? So let's try Caufield in goal?

Come on man. You don't break what's working. The first line is the constant for us this year. You don't touch it.

i'm not talking about breaking the first line......but cool story........by the way i'm finally very happy with the way MSL coached the 3rd period, he coach that period like a guy who wants to win.

Are you watching the games?
The major issue of this team was Laine on the 1stPP wave.
It was an obvious fix and they finally pulled the plug on him on the third. The 6 vs 5 looked so much more dominant.

I'm going to hold back on SMarty but i won't go into the full rag right now.

All I'm going to say is that SMarty is a reactive coach that by the time he's prepared to change, the series is on the line or over.
