HF Habs: The Martin St Louis Thread

"Le 2e PP constituait de Newhook, Gallagher, Demidov, Kapanen et Matheson."

Bruh...

I just don't get why people adamantly defend this coaching staff. The lineup decisions make 0 sense, the PP has been putrid for a month now and the team hasn't had a 60 minute game in a long, long time. They're clearly not prepared and the system isn't effective at the NHL level. Marty was a great player, so was Gretzky, neither one is a great coach.

For such an incompetent coach, it’s shocking that his team is 1pt from clinching the wildcard spot vs 5-10OA pick 99% of fans & media were predicting

Sad thing is... more of the same next season. Think about it... even if Hughes gets off his ass and adds something decent pieces like the 2C and a solid top 4 dman, and maybe even some decent 3-4rd line pieces. St Louis will have them play man to man and lob the puck out of the zone. This is all on Hughes/Gorton now. If no changes are made to the coaching staff, they are not f***ing serious about being competitive.

Should be fired if we miss playoffs. Lost so many times in OT because he sends Matheson Evans and Dvorak.

Dude can't coach mid game

The fact he can't see Demidov good enough for the first PP is mind boggling. Dude's completely stupid.
On most teams, he would be fired, the GM wouldn't trust the coach for what come next time.

But on this team, he will be excused by blaming the young players (the "it's a young team excuse" is a blame) despite him overplaying his vets. They are going to turn a blind eye to him not maximizing his chance to win by playing fresh legs to replace clearly tired players, all those 1st period starts 10-20 minutes late and their failure to play for 60 minutes. Laval is younger and they have no issue starting on time most games...

Half the team (8F, 3D) are in their early prime (25+) to being over 30 years old. When they blame a loss on "young team", they are blaming the players with the lowest TOI - except for Slaf/CC - on the team.

And the Evans/Dvorak/Matheson OT start reeks of Julien on his last leg. I can undestand sending your best faceoff guy, but these 3 players aren't good at re-gaining possession if they don't win a faceoff.

Not really bad things but the overall tone .. the comment about not being the savior too.. he looks pissed off when talking about Demidov.

Hartley said you had to play him(Demidov) in critic situations cause he was the one creating everything last night.

Also said you have to match offensive Ds with the best fowards in the end of the game cause we needed a goal. Marty did nothing.
this is completely on Gorton & Hughes , Hughes even admitted that MSL is in a learning process, what a Fu#%ing ahole !! it's bad enough that were limited to such a small pool of coaches due to the language stupidity but then you screw the fans by starting a complete rebuild with an unexperienced coach who thinks he's smarter than everyone else :clap:this is the first time i actually hope they don't make the playoffs,No playoff revenue = a taste of their own medicine :D

It reads as though you are self-triggering about much more than hockey; I hope you get better and are able and enjoy the game tonight.

What in the world are you talking about?
Most GMs do not trust coach that have their team looking flat or very nervous in important games to be the coach when things matters. Habs management might not have planned to really make the playoffs this season, but how the team (and MSL) are responding these last few games would worry a lots of GMs about the coaching staff ability to prepare the team for important games in the future.

Habs are dead last in shots on net average per game in the last 12 games, the problems didn't start with the Sens game...

How many missed shots though. What do the numbers look like for shot attempts?

What's even funnier Is the radio personalities that crucify him 1 minute then are nominating him for the jack adams the next.If they lose tonight ,Smarty's final presser will require ear plugs and/or a laxative......and alot of booze 🤢

Not sure we’ve been watching the same team - I swear Hutson, Suzuki, Caufield, Newhook, Guhle are getting loads of TOI
