It’s weird that he would be interested in Florida and Vegas. I was told he’s all but going to a burgeoning cup contender like San Jose or Chicago.
Even with the Florida discount, Marner would become the highest paid Florida Panther, no? I feel like that would be a weird look for them. But who knows.
If he went to Vegas, became the highest paid player on the team, and continued to under produce in the playoffs...you have to imagine Vegas would be doing everything they can to get rid of him - knowing how they work.
LA probably makes the most sense of the three.
Can you provide these stories that he has dumped to the media?

They both have had Selke Votes. They are not a mirage defensively at all. Both very good.Is Marner's defensive rep as much of a mirage as Matthews's was on here? Like Paper Tigers lauded by Toronto fans? I'm not a chart guy so I genuinely asking. My eye test says both are average but I see others saying they are both great defensively so I'm curious....

it's kinda funny how in a way that whole Tavares thing was almost a targeted attack right at the weaknesses of Toronto's management
in a vacuum bringing in someone like Tavares as a free agent seems like a no brainer but if you think ahead at all it should have been obvious that doing that would mean you have to do something along the lines of trading away Marner if you want anything remotely approaching a balanced team
sometimes being in charge of a team means making hard choices and not only did Toronto's management prefer to stick their fingers in their ears and pretend not to have to, they stuck their fingers in their ears so hard they were even coming up with silly catchphrases like "we can and we will(keep the forward core together)" to justify not doing so
I think his lawn has been vandalized three different times. One was Montreal merch, one was trash, and another was golf balls. He was also carjacked at gunpoint, which isn't really hockey related but it still happened. Some guy yelled at Mitch to sign the contract when he was holding out

Weird would be if the Panthers wanted him. All other things aside, this is the GM who traded away Huberdeau and Weager to get the gritt Tkachuk brings into his line up. Then you have their "fck making plays! Pound their defense!!" Coach. Doesn't feel like the Pathers would even consider. It’s weird that he would be interested in Florida and Vegas. Would be interesting to know if his salary demands are the same regardless of destination.I think there's a lot of legit possibilities for Marner in terms of signing destinations.
-There's the teams in states with no income tax (Florida/Tampa/Vegas/Nashville/Dallas/Seattle).
-The LA area teams, and it's an open secret in Toronto hockey circles that Marner and his wife like the possibility of living there (LA/Anaheim)
-And the 2 American teams in close proximity to Toronto, so he wouldn't be relocating that far (Detroit/Buffalo)
Whichever one of those teams offers him the best contract from his and his agent's POVs will probably get him. Some of the other rumoured teams I think are just noise with no real substance behind it. I also believe the reports that he doesn't want to sign with a Canadian team.
Mitchs dad false flagging to blame leafs fans/the organization as to why he's not a playoff performer.
He probably wouldn't get noticed living in the beach cities where all of the player live . Doughty, Kopitar, Carter [when he played here ] and the like, can easily move around there and be able to have dinner without being constantly approached. Not sure about the high price tag that comes along with Mariner.Unless all he cares about is money it will be an already good team that has the cap space to add him. He's not going to join some team random bottom feeder for anything under what Draisaitl's next deal will be. My guess is LA, they have a need for more offense, he fits their style of play, they have the cap space, and its a very popular location to live. Also worth noting that the Kings are far from the center of attention in LA, and even if he's the highest paid player on the team, that city has much bigger superstar names in Otani, LeBron, Luka, Kawhi, etc
The team has 0 choice.Letting him walk would be a disaster
LeafsLeast likely team he signs with?
