Speculation: The market for Mitch Marner's mega millions

What jersey will Mitchell Marner be wearing in the 2025-26 season?

Why would Toronto "not want him"? Maybe they cant afford him but im pretty sure any team would love to have him.

Some Toronto media guys - CJ and Mirtle - have suggested the relationship between front office and player/agent is pretty frustrated at the moment.

And if the Leafs fail to advance deeper in the playoffs the team will require a radical shakeup to the core - and contracting status timing means that he ends up as one of the odd men out

That said there's still likely a very reasonable chance he extends in Toronto. But it's going to depend on if the Leafs get to the third round at minimum

I’m going to say Chicago. Still a big market, but definitely not in the spotlight with the Bears and Cubs taking a chunk of it. They have a ton of money to throw around, he’s not too far from Toronto/family. And who wouldn’t want to play with Bedard. A lot of people are saying Utah.. I don’t see that at all to be honest. Gotta remember he just had a kid, he’s going to want to stay semi close to his and his wives parents.

For fun.. Oilers. Only cause leaf fans keep letting me know that McD is going to Toronto real soon.

2 good spots would be Boston and Detroit. Boston's retool would be complete and they b right back in the thick of things. Red Wings need another superstar at forward. He'd get them in playoffs and him, Larkin and Raymond would be amazing.

I'm hoping Boston if not Toronto on a resign..

Depends on how much money he can get.

Can't imagine BOS signing him...can't remember an elite Bruins player that was as soft as Marner.

Well...Utah it is then.

He’s not leaving Toronto. 8 x 13M
win or loss I don't think he leaves, unless its a management decision to move on. I guess thats also part of the conversation right? I think he stays. He loves his team, I think his teamates also like him, hes part of their core. I think Brad will try to talk him down a little though.

He will definitely put out feelers. I don’t know what good team other than Carolina will offer him more.

1.) willl Carolina offer him full up front money and signing bonuses?
2.) will he want the 8th year.

I think that the market for competitive teams might be softer than one would think.

If I’m Tre I say go look at numbers with other teams. If you want the 8th year come badk
To us.

Unless all he cares about is money it will be an already good team that has the cap space to add him. He's not going to join some team random bottom feeder for anything under what Draisaitl's next deal will be. My guess is LA, they have a need for more offense, he fits their style of play, they have the cap space, and its a very popular location to live. Also worth noting that the Kings are far from the center of attention in LA, and even if he's the highest paid player on the team, that city has much bigger superstar names in Otani, LeBron, Luka, Kawhi, etc
Might be surprised, I don’t think he wants to win that badly.

I think a quiet small market team will be want he wants
