Wouldnt be shocked if he signed a low money 1 year deal with edmonton ala skinner
Yes. Mitch Marner and Jeff Skinner are very similar.

Wouldnt be shocked if he signed a low money 1 year deal with edmonton ala skinner
Why would he do that?Wouldnt be shocked if he signed a low money 1 year deal with edmonton ala skinner
Not to mention, pretty sure the Leafs locker room got an up close look at why you don't turn down max term contracts for a one year gamble when Klingberg played there. Why would he do that?
He’s 28 years old and will be signing a 7 or 8 year massive, disgusting contract. It’ll most likely be his final contract and he will make sure it’s enormous and potentially take over as highest paid player in the NHL.
The cap is going up and him and his agent will take full advantage of that
Even if you’re a Marner hater you still have to aknowledge he’s worth every bit of 12M on his next deal. If you love him you’ll talk yourself into the 14s.I'm not sure why anyone would pay over 8-9 million for him.
San Jose - Building team with a bright future.
Tampa/Florida - Quiet life with a great team. He can also play and not have to be the main guy on the team. He can just focus on hockey instead of the nonsense from the press and fans.....
I don’t think the 8th year would lower the AAV for the team as much as it would just secure him more long term money. Somebody will throw the Oanarin deal at him , which is around 13.5M / year in todays money. With where the cap is going, I expect a team to talk themselves dingo the 14M range even. I don’t know if a team he wants to play for will go there, but it’s easy to see a world where he is worth 13-14M per year.Darren Ferris is going to ask for a sign and trade
that 8th year is huge to lower the AAV for the team, and for the player to get his preferred money
unless he does the Matthews and goes like 4 years, then tries again at 32 for 8.
Utah Mammoth would be the best bet, the team is renovating the arena, new franchise for the city that needs a marque player and would be willing to spend. They will make the hardest pitch for sure, but we will see.
Utah seems a bad fit with them already having Keller and not needing to pay two similar skilled and styled players in marner & kellerUtah and Anaheim stick out as really good fits. Chicago probably wants him but I don't think Marner will want to go to that tire fire of a franchise.
Yes you are correct, but doesn’t he look dreamy in a Utah Jersey LOLHalf the teams in the league have the cap and would be willing to spend...
For this exact reason, I am shocked I am the only one who voted for the Keefe reunion in NJThe Islanders would be perfect for this. Rangers get all of the press in NY. Isles press are way more laid back.
No, he refused to waive his ntc. There is a difference. He didn’t want to uproot.
Considering that's not a Utah jersey, nah.
Then catch a career ending injury and screw himself out of $80M. Genius!Marner is going to take a one year paycut to a contender like Dallas then get paid the year after.
The best I can do for now, but close enough!Considering that's not an Utah jersey, nah.
He has a higher chance of getting knocked out with a major injury by accidental contact to the head in game 7 by players that their coach claims only checks players with the puck. Then catch a career ending injury and screw himself out of $80M. Genius!
CBJ seems like a likely destination regardless what the polls say, not far from Toronto, small market, further along in the rebuild than most teams, cap space for additional signings, Marchenko is the only proven top 6 RW currently on the team....
plenty of good reasons to sign there.
Interesting idea. If Marner takes a one year deal at what point during the 2025/2026 can he sign a long term (8 year) deal with that new club? Is it January 1, 2026?Marner is going to take a one year paycut to a contender like Dallas then get paid the year after.
