eh there are a few teams that desperately need regular season success or to insulate their young core

like buffalo and detroit would sign him in a second to get regular season marner and then deal with his disappearing act and losing quickly in the playoffs at a later date

No contender would, but:

1.If you're not a free agent destination
2.You have the cap space

You would be dumb not to overpay for him, he's still a good season player and not having him only hurts you if you could use the 10-15 million for something else. If it's not going to get used you don't get any benefits from it.

I'd put money on the Hurricanes to at least make an offer and a decent pitch. They have a good system, everyone plays 200ft game and they need raw talent. They have lots of cap space on top of that. Not too big a market. Seems like a very good fit.

Even Tavares not that much. Flames need guys under 27 years old, especially at center. Trying to rush the rebuild with a bandaid fix just to squeak into the playoffs every other year would be moronic, but also completely on par with our ownership. I really hope Edwards keeps his hands out of Conroy's business and lets him do the job properly.
