The Leafs are now an elite team

Is this some new take on the reverse jinx? A hyper jinx aiming to cause an arithmetic overflow?

You'd think toronto fans would have brains in year 2025 but here they are patting themselves on the back once again primed to get beat by a team that hasn't made the playoffs in like 7 years.

Who was the last team to win a Stanley Cup with Morgan Reilly(This version) or Chris Tanev as their best defenseman? I don’t see it. They’re a lot of fun, and I wouldn’t mind seeing them go on a run, but I can’t get past that.

Pittsburgh won in 2017 with Justin Schultz as their best dman lol.

They did get to play teams with Kyle Turris and Colten Scissons as their #1 centres in the last two rounds however.

You cannot deny that which is undeniable.

Being an Altantic Division leader puts them up there with 3 to 4 other top teams.

Good coaching
Depth at defense
Game breaking forward talent
Great goaltending
Heavy
Tough
Etc.
Been “elite” ever since they got tavares

Regular season means nothing. You start brand new in the playoffs your regular season wins, goals, regular season awards don’t mean anything come playoff time and that goes for every team not just the leafs.

Even if they get past the first round against Ottawa (who is far from Florida or Tampa) it doesn’t mean anything. 1 round of 4 and only going to get harder.

Following hockey must be miserable when 95% of the games are meaningless. Why even bother watching a single match before June?

Win the SC first. After that, it’d be appropriate to discuss whether the TML are elite.

Found the leafs fan.

Whole point is to make the playoffs and get the favourable seeding. There’s a reason “Regular season champs” and “Stanley cup champions” aren’t the same thing
