Look the point was that Joe could have forced them to wake her up and explain the repercussions of the procedure to her and ask her if she wanted to still do it. And the main point still being, Abby had every right in that universe to kill Joel.
How would he possibly have the time to wake her up after being knocked out from anesthesia and patiently wait for her to come back to a coherent state? He's in a militarized, freedom-fighter, hospital where he was just escorted out at gunpoint and the people running the hospital think this girl can cure the entire human species from this zombie infection.

It wasn't a "talk it out" moment. The Fireflies made their choice, Joel made his

You don't have a clue.

You don't just wake up from being put under for surgery.

That's not how that works

Just finished the finale. It was ok I guess. A lot of quick travel.

I know it's hard to compare to the game but everything happens so fast in this show. Only 7 episodes, but they barely explain so many things. I've played both games, but for those who haven't there has to be things that don't make sense.

The plot, characters, and morality aren’t compelling or complex enough to tell this story in a meandering and non-linear fashion. Might sound hyperbolic but this could be the least interesting “prestige” show that HBO has ever aired.

Quite a lot. Especially in this episode.

I loved both seasons. Never played the game. Joel did what he thought was best in that moment.

He saved her because he loved her. Like any father would. Heavy. Loved it. The finale was ok.

Revenge is not always what someone thinks it is...and there are other repercussions. It is "worth" it?

I know, I've been in two (left knee). Wait it out until she would've woken up. But I get it, the characters in the show don't make smart decisions.
What do you think the militarized FIrefly's do while Joel is waiting, holding the doctor's hostage at gunpoint, for hours and hours and hours?

I would suggest that those of you who are not happy and frustrated by the non-linear storytelling at least stick around for the telling of Abby’s side. Which should have been done, they’ve put it off and looks like they’re going to spend much of the first half of next season doing. The acting from Kaitlyn Dever alone should be worth it.

Is the show worth watching? I loved the 1st game, the 2nd was just a complete drag and unenjoyable to play, like watching torture porn or Requiem for a dream. Just a terrible experience. I have seen concerns about the casting and have to agree, Ellie in the show doesn't look anything like in the games, and no one pictured Joel and Tommy being played by hispanics (seriously pictured someone like Hugh Jackman as Joel)

From the superherohypeforums thread of the show:

The Aquarium was apparently a reshoot that happened after press screeners went out, presumably after securing an actual aquarium location to shoot at for Season 3.

Also they got the go-ahead for season in December, before officially announcing it last Month.

This is true and if for nothing else, I'll be back because of Kaitlyn who IMO is one of the best upcoming actors around(She was so good in Unbelievable and Dopesick).

Plus I'm usually someone who will finish a series once I've started it even if it drops in quality. I think the only series I never finished like that was The Walking Dead.

But funny enough the comparisons from TWD to this series are only getting stronger and stronger to me, and not in a good way at all.

I think I may have said this before in this thread already how much similarities there are beginning to appear to TWD. The thing is, after the main show ended, it evolved in the three spin-off shows. Or should probably say in Dead City and Daryl Dixon since The Ones Who Live was just the one season. Cinematography, locations, storytelling. This show is beginning to look like what TWD was at the end of the main show. Let's introduce another paramilitary faction! Let's also introduce a new creepy, crazy faction!
