Yeah Ellie was always the main character...not Joel. She's the point of the everything that happens. Joel is just sorta there to enable her story.

well Joel was the main character for a 3rd of the first game. by the end of it, it felt like he was no longer the main character and it was shifting to Ellie. I think part of the reason why people lost their shit on the game was cause it was in away false advertising,

there was a part where Ellis gets grabbed from behind and its Joel in the trailer saying, think I'd let you do this on your own? then when you got to that part Joel was replaced by another character.

anyways I like what they did to him, not often you get to see both sides of a story, it was unique. many couldn't get past that moment though, grew too attached to Joel. I thought it was well deserved

Yikes, Ellie and Dina are little overmatched by the looks of it.

I wonder why the Fireflies were such a small group that when Joel killed I think it was 19 of them they ceased to exist.

Fireflies were there from the very beginning but after years of war with the Boston Military their numbers got wiped out, was talked about in the beginning of the first game.

also many members moved on to something new, so their numbers slowly faded. Tommy was a firefly, but is no longer one. and this was talked about in the first game. so it's not exclusive to season 2

yeah, I mean they didnt overly go into detail on it, but I can only assume that different militaries took on the fireflies over those 20 years and then broke into smaller groups and scattered,

in the beginning of the game after Sarah got bitten and it skips 20 years, it kinda talks about the beginning and how it went and the fireflies were part of it so they had to of fought for 20 years.

by the end of the 1st season that's pretty much all thats left of them, I think there are alot of different groups of fireflies going on around the USA but they dont overly go into it.

I think Tommy left the fireflies a long long long time ago, Joel and Tommy had a pretty dark past at times

I didn't see the newest episode so I'm going read all of the posts since the last one because it feels like the right thing to do because I am a procrastinator.

Well haven't been to this thread in a while, and happy I missed any spoilers.
I'm probably going to just skip over Arthur's posts because he has way too much knowledge of the story and doesn't always know when he's dropping too much info, respectfully

With that being said, he might feel vindicated to know that I feel like Bella might struggle carrying this show. I had NO idea what was gonna happen to Joel, certainly not mad about staying true to the game, but it for sure changes all expectations, I think their chemistry is what really made me fall in love with the show.

I think it's probably going to be like Stranger Things where s1 will go down in my top tier favorite seasons of all time, the later seasons I will still really enjoy, but it will just be missing the charm of the first.

I finally watched the third episode. I was a little surprised that there were only a few minutes of reaction to the death before the story jumped ahead 3 months.

Speaking of which, I'm not sure why Ellie needed to be in the hospital that long. She didn't seem physically injured and there were probably plenty of other residents who were after the fight.

I was really surprised that it took them only 10 minutes to reach Seattle. I expected the journey there to take much of the rest of the season, like Joel and Ellie last season. I guess, for once, it was the destination, not the journey.

Ellie and Dina look like two schoolgirls bringing toy guns to a war zone. Joking the entire way, when they're going to murder a lot of people, also felt a little wrong. They seem more foolish than brave and I can't imagine how they're going to succeed without it feeling very implausible.

I agree on your assessment as to how Ellie and Dina look. Just getting into hijinks. But that will change next week by the looks of it.

I think they’ve been doing a great job with season 2. I also love the game, but I feel like pretty much all the changes they’ve made have been for the best. The most successful to me being really fleshing Dina out to being a much more dynamic character.

As someone who hasn't played the game, but having played a lot of the games, I felt many things in the episode felt predictable. And the thing Isaac feels so familiar from The Walking Dead. Crazy human survivor groups, some more paramilitary than others but fighting more with others than the fungus among us. It looks good and is well acted but....eeeh.

By the way, this show is once again proof of why IMDB doesn't matter anymore. I expected review bombing because of the Ellie & Dina stuff and there it was.. Almost 800 "1" scores. As long as you can rate something there without any proof of watching even, all too often the scores are not reliable.

Yeah I am in the same boat. I don't know why really but I can't bring myself to care as much about Ellie/Dina. Maybe cause Dina was just introduced this season? It doesn't feel like there's been enough for me to get emotionally involved in their story. Joel/Ellie was the best part of the show and without it, it's just not as interesting.

I know people have implied there will be flashbacks and I will watch the rest of the season but I am nowhere near as invested as season 1.

I didn't like it. I wrote a novel about why, but it really doesn't matter. I just thought the episode was entirely lame beginning to end. I was looking forward to the show being in the PNW, I'm much less enthused now.
