News Article: The Kings will play the Sharks at Levi's Stadium Feb 21

We will play on the frozen tears of Sharks' fans. The NHL will begin collecting them opening night. It's a highly advanced process, but scientists think that they finally have the technology to pull it off. Can't wait.

Stadium is too far from SF to make this into a decent weekend. To pay the ticket price plus travel expenses just seems stupid...I don't want to spend a weekend in San Jose.

If this was the Kings first one then I'd be all over it. I'm still smarting from spending $480 on tickets for zero goals at Dodger Stadium.

It would be worth it, however, if the Kings won and ruined yet another Shark fan's year.

Got the presale email today tickets go on sail Thursday 10AM for Season ticket holders.

My only concern is a rainout. We are going into an El Nino year, and that usually means regular rain. (which obviously we need)

Probably gonna buy some seats and make a long weekend out of it up there.

They say that every year.

Was thinking the same thing. I would love to take my family to SF and make a trip of it, but Santa Clara is to far away. And apparently the parking and transportation situation is a joke, so you wouldn't get back to SF for 2+ hours after the game.

They are not happy about how much NBC is going to re-live the great choke job of 2014.

What a bunch of whiners.

That is why you don't lose a series down 3-0. They will NEVER hear the end of it.

Dude, it's a pretty short drive. No different than driving from LA to OC.

Also, they have mass transit up there

I got my room for Saturday at the Hilton right next to the Stadium for $160+ tax. I'm planning on staying in the city at the hilton in Union Square for some party time on Friday night. Fly up to SFO, take BART/Caltrain til the end of the line and Uber from there to the Stadium. Then fly back to John Wayne from San Jose (6 miles from the Hilton). I did all the work for you guys. You guys need to get creative!

Big King: Airfare $150 + Hotel for 2 nights ~$400 + $100 tickets = not much more than you paid for your tickets to Dodger Stadium. And I disagree with Herby, Football stadiums are the better venue. There were only a handful of good seats at Dodger Stadium. At Ralph Wilson only the lower end zones sucked. that being said, I'd rather have stayed in SF the whole weekend just for convenience but I'll make it work.

But everything except the view makes this the better choice for San Jose and the NHL.
More tickets means more money that's the NHL side.
And for San Jose it is much closer for their fans.

Gentle Ben-

One of the beauties SF is to not need a rental car. Driving to the game from there would require a rental and just more of a hassle. I'd probably do the 2 hour train ride so I could get good and buzzed but that is 4 hours of mass transit time on a Saturday.

Buddy-

Thanks for doing the leg work. While I did spend a lot on the Dodger game (bought tickets for my parents as a Christmas present), I did so because of the "history" of it, seeing as it was the first one in California/Kings history etc... I'm just not sure if I want to deal with multiple locations etc...for this game.

My mom and step-dad are huge fans now, moving up to a half-season package this year. She wants to go and so does my sister so I may not have much of a choice.

I'm just smarting a bit at the moment because I just bought two rooms for four nights at the Siganture for FF and am waiting on my friend to pay me back. FYI...$1,485 for two adjoining suites for four nights through my people. They still have an adjoning set up available if anyone is interested. They do a three night minimum but it was cheaper to fly on Thursday and book an extra night in the room than to fly out on Friday.

I also bought an extra season seat to flip this year so the Kings are hitting me pretty good every month. I'm probably just kidding myself though because I'm the Kings ***** and always wind up handing over my money so I'll probably find myself in Santa Clara on 2/21/15. The distance from SF though is a genuine bummer.

I completely understand the reasoning and have no problem with it. Having this game at Levi's is better for the NHL and those Sharks fans that reside in San Jose.

My problem is that they built the home of the 49'ers 45 miles away from San Francisco, which I think is stupid. Gentle Ben made reference to the drive being like from LA to OC, which is true. Thing is, however, is that once you drive to OC from LA, you are looking at a different baseball, hockey and--once upon a time--a different football team!

Seems more like the San Jose 49'ers now.

You are flying? I always drive.

For anyone driving: Harris Ranch is the bomb. Get a beef stew bread bowl. Always get a side of tri-tip. It's like $6 for 5 slices. Take it with you and eat it on the road like beef jerky.

It's on the 5 and 198, right before the 33. It's at right about the 3 hour mark. Tell them that Jesus sent you

If you think you might go, it's worth booking a room now because they have free cancellation at the Hilton next to the Stadium and the Hyatt down the road. The Hyatt has one bedroom suites for $150 a night. I booked both Hyatt and Hilton in Santa Clara. I also booked a room for the full weekend in Union Square. Not sure which direction I plan on going but better to have options and cancel the ones I don't use. Also, I believe Southwest still has no change fees so if you book a flight, you can always cancel and use it for something else later.

I'm even considering going up Saturday morning and flying home Sunday. I figure I'll be doing a lot of pregaming the day of that I probably am not going to want to go out after the game anyway.. haha! At least, that is how it was at Dodger Stadium. We took the blue line up there and ended up taking Uber home because nobody wanted to sit on that **** the whole way home after being wasted and watching that bummer of a game.

Anyway, I think local dudes will regret not going because who knows how long this novelty will last. That is why I changed my mind about the Dodger Stadium game. It looks like the NHL learned about pricing these games after last year and have made the tickets more reasonable this year.

Here is an interesting stat for you guys to tell Sharks fans:

In the past three seasons, the Kings have been up 3-0 in five different playoff seasons and have lost nary a one.

:)

I'm sure they will appreciate that stat.

:)

And only lost 5 games total after going up 3-0 in those 5 series. They lost 4 games in 1 series.

I'm expecting Quick to lose his cool and fans to call him overrated. Brown will most likely nudge Couture/Hertl and everyone will call him dirtly and classless.

They signed a goon in the off season to deter this kind of thing.Word is out that if you touch either, you'll have to answer to the fists of fury.:yo:

Just think, they'll be reminded at least 6 times on NBCSN of the masterful choke job and the magnificent Stanley Cup playoff run the Kings had.
