The Kings are.. oof

We’re about to find out.

Oilers are currently up 1-0 over VGK and distinctly looked like the better team over the first game.

And yes, EDM is better than Dallas, beating them in 6 just about a year ago.

Regardless, LA would have put up a substantial fight against all those Western conference teams and could beat the likes of the Blues, Avs, Wild and Golden Knights.
They had a nice game but I just can't go there with Edmonton's goaltending.

Where do you think they finish next season after trading those players? Reminder that they had 105 points this season. As of right now, who would you picked in the 2025 draft with the 12th overall pick who will be a difference maker to (see below) in the rebuild around Byfield?

Cool. Step 2, they are now rebuilding around a player who scored 54 points in his draft+5 season. What's step 3?

Step 1 is trade one of those players I like to the team I support for pennies on the dollar and who cares what happens after that!

For all the smack talk Leafs got about consistently losing to Boston, and running back with the same core “the definition of insanity”..

This kings team is brutal. 4 straight years of losing to the oilers who have started sieves in net, including this year where career backup/AHL goalie Calvin Pickard 4-0’s them.

Since 2015 they have either missed the playoffs or lost in the first round.

At what point do we stop ignoring this teams faults and ask if they should blow it up?
Gee, I wonder what spawned this thread. Probably some envy that your favorite team's "best" player isnt as good as Kempe despite having double the cap hit

Put this version of the Kings in the east and they'd have an ECF by now.

Rebuild or retool around byfield
Admittedly, I don’t follow the kings closely, but I have seen more than enough of them over the last few years. Byfield is overrated. He’s not a player you build around. he’s a guy you bring into a team ready to compete. He’s not the guy.

10 years ago. Those cups are as relevant to the current team as the last Oilers cup in 1990, that is to say, not very.
Cups 10 years ago=cups 35 years ago lol.

I guess they should've won more which only 1 team has done in the last 25 years.

You can't be contenders/fantastic forever, its like laughing at people for getting old, it happens to everyone.

Using cups as a “nananana I can’t hear you” is stupid. Especially cups from a decade ago. Especially as a fan, you didn’t win anything.

But yeah, a cup win a decade ago has as much relevance to the current team/game as a cup in 35, 40, 45 years ago, which is none. Your name is on the cup as a player, as a fan you’re just arguing over dick size.

They were Cups won in the cap era.

It's not a nanana I can't hear you, more so the reality of sports.

Teams ideally win championships
Those cores age out and you have to rebuild/retool

Only in your mind because you want to discredit those cups, if that were the case Leafs and Habs fans should be so happy with their teams results the last 60/30 years because they're leading everyone in cup wins and those cups are just as relevant as recent wins.

Actually it’s the exact opposite. Those cups wins from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s are useless today and nothing but a stat on a piece of paper and banner in the arena. They don’t impact the game today in any meaningful way.

Pickards not a sieve though.

please tell this to Yankees, Cardinals, Lakers, Celtics, and Packer fans.

seriously though they do matter. It builds history and tradition. People want to go play with and be inspired by greatness. Every team should strive to be the best team in the league every single year.

I want what you’re on. This is a thread about the kings total inability to win a playoff series

Even after going back to my AA days, I can't remember what step 3 is
