Green Day and The Killers ... awesome it's 2004 again, lol.

Seriously I don't mind. I guess in ten years the NHL will be able to get Drake.

Every time I hear a Green Day song I think of a 90s teenage comedy.

Went to the Killers show tonight. So good.

Can't wait for Green Day next week.

If you are in Toronto, tickets will cost $25 for the Green Day concert

I'm flying to Toronto from Helsinki today, but they'd have to pay me to go listen to such crap. Thankfully there's also a comedy festival in Toronto with Jim Jefferies as a headliner. Can't wait!

If HFboards had a music festival it would be headlined by Slipknot

I've never seen American Psycho, but the concept of Patrick Bateman is that his opinions are inauthentic, so everything he "enjoys" needs to have been popular.

My post does read like one of his monologues, though!

Green Day is the quintessence of what Bettman is - a money driven fraud.:handclap:

Too bad The Killers are in the same line with them. I like them somewhat.

They were recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

I personally haven't listened to a majority of the band's work, but I appreciate American Idiot (2004), which possesses some progressive rock elements, strong melodies and pleasant arrangements. Two of the tracks on that album span nine minutes each, and the album is quite varied musically. It won a lot of awards and is critically-acclaimed for good reason. The sound quality was improved in a subsequent 2012 re-release, which brings some of those instruments to life.

I think there is a backlash to the way they present themselves, as their image and marketing are consistent with punk rock culture, but their music covers more genres than punk rock. Their instrumentation includes brass instruments, keyboards, and acoustic guitars, which the purists hate. There are also those who dislike them for the sake of disliking them. I don't believe they've done anything to make people dislike them as individuals, so there's nothing to it beyond disliking the brand.

If someone doesn't like them, then they don't have to watch. A lot of people enjoy their music, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Well said! Used to drive up to the bay area with my band back in the day (91-93) and we played a few gigs with Green Day. Once we drove 5 hours with them to do a gig and when we arrived we found out the show was canceled. We found a local Dennys and hung out for a few hours before heading home. They paid for us, too. Great band and awesome guys that definitely deserve everything they have.

Green Day has been terrible ever since they decided their music should be political instead of fun. Pop punk is fine if it's not pretentious. American Idiot was a disaster. I neither care about their politics nor want to hear them try to write a rock opera when historically their songs are 4 chords. The Offspring had the same career trajectory. At some point fun and sarcasm got lost and whatever appeal they had went with it.

At least it's not Kiss. They're only a decade behind instead of 4.

I doubt people with an opinion like this have heard American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown in their entirety. They base their opinions off of the singles that made Green Day big again and automatically write them off.

I'm pretty sure that's what he was making fun of and to be honest, while your post is well-written and constructive, it really does sound like a Patrick Bateman monologue.

I even looked it up to make sure you weren't in on the joke.

The NHL somehow gets two awesome groups to perform at an event:

"Hurrrrrrr would be great 10 years ago"

My god HFers can be a whiny bunch.

It's unbearable. Half this board hates gets off on hating on the World Cup and everything about it.

Why can't people just ****ing enjoy things?
