I'm not following the logic that Terry Pegula needs to come out of this still owning an NHL franchise

I think the premise is in this complicated transaction you have an immediate and NHL vetted buyer ready to take the Penguins off the hands of Fenway group.

New ownership and Pegula takes over a rival franchise? Sounds too good to be true.

Now I have a tiny tiny tiny bit of hope even tho its probably not gonna happen its just knowing it could is enough.

My biggest fears of Pegula selling is who he’d sell to (hopefully not an owner who will run this team on a shoestring budget) and whether they’d be committed to keeping the team in Buffalo long term.

This would erase both of those fears.

As others have said, this seems like a bit of a pipe dream. It's way too complicated. And Terry Pegula is a long-time Sabres fan. That said, he's also a billionaire businessman, so if the price is right, anything can happen. Maybe he'd be willing to take his payday and just concentrate on the Bills. Or maybe he'd retain a minority interest and let someone else buy the Pens.

(BTW, when I Iived in Buffalo briefly a long time ago, I was right around the corner from the intersection of Delaware Ave. and North St., in case people are wondering about that name.) [EDIT: I just realized I wrote this in the Sabres forum, not the General forum, so Duh! LOL]

The Jacobs family is looking to sell high (Bruins/TD Arena) and buy low (Sabres/Keybank center).

They have the resources to easily pull this off. They have the local connection to Buffalo, as the two brothers running DN actually live in the area (and probably share our disgust with the past 14 years). If their new HQ is any indication of what's to come with a new arena, the Sabres could be on the verge of doing something great for the downtown area. And obviously shipping Pegula out for an ownership group that knows their limitations when it comes to running the day to day of a hockey team has me salivating at the mouth.

Fenway has laid out a win/win situation for all the parties involved. It's up to us fans to hammer home to Pegula that he is despised and needs to sell the Sabres before revenues plunge even further. Hopefully this clown gets the message and starts exploring his next hockey team in Pittsburgh.

Remember we are talking about a franchise swap

Delaware North has built a goldmine in Boston but if a new Celtics owner decides to build a new arena all bets are off. Everyone assumes a new Celtics arena would be built 3 miles away next to the Encore Casino which in 5 years has become extremely successful. They DON'T advertise as they don't have to.

DN as part of the deal could maintain concessions in new arena or current one for years too.

Any idea Fenway on what would happen with NESN in this transaction as it’s a major cash cow for both the Red Sox and the Bruins?

I have always doubted that he was as big of a Sabres fan as he let on. They embellished his origin story quite a bit I think. One of his old minions (Benson or Sawyer maybe?) said that Pegula's #1 priority when buying the team was to be liked by the fans. What better way to accomplish that? I know Pegula had a cup of coffee in Olean and did attend some games... but hearing him speak about the team or hockey struck me as someone who didn't know what he was talking about. No real fan would ever willingly allow the franchise to become this disgraced (and seemingly be OK with it)

Yeah, I want this to be true. While some of the Bruins faithful may not like the Jacobs family, they have run one of the most consistent franchises for DECADES.

This rumor has been percolating in Boston for a few weeks and spawns from the Celtics being up for sale. Delaware North simply can't afford the Celtics who could be sold for $5 BILLION

The six children of Jeremy Jacobs now own the Bruins and Delaware North owns TD Garden. The family feels they can build a new arena downtown to replace the flawed KeyBank Center.

But for this to work you need a third team and the Penguins are the perfect fit as Terry Pegula has strong Pennslynaia connections and the Penguins are currently owned by the Red Sox.

Fenway Sports Group then winds up with the Bruins/TD Garden and can overpay for the Celtics and prevent another arena from being built.

The one thing nobody outside of the Jacobs family knows is the health of Jeremy.

Pegula and the Jacobs Family most likely don't exchange holiday cards as giving the concessions for the new Bills stadium to Jerry Jones was unexpected.

Pegula out of the Sabres' org would be a wonderful christmas gift.
