The History of the Boston Bruins

I met Chief at work a few months ago. I didn't want to bother him.

Bucyk was there to help with a book signing for a former Boston Bruins player, who went on to play for Philadelphia (Thundermouth: Memories of a Broad Street Bully and NHL Lifer, by Joe Watson).

There was a lull in the signing and I stepped in to say that I did not need an autograph, but wanted to let him know that I was in the presence of greatness, to thank him for all he has given to the Bruins and the Boston community, and to shake his hand.

A gentleman and the best of what the Boston Bruins have always been about.

They might get bonuses for making it to the playoffs.

And by the way, I was not aware this was still the case.

The playoffs are the big bag for the owners. That's always been the case.

Greedy f*ckers.

I thought the NHL pays the players per round? Doesn't the NFL pay the players for their playoffs?

No bonuses and no pay for playoffs, though there is a playoff prize pool:

Come the playoffs, players are no longer paid their salaries even though contracts are paid from July 1 to June 30. NHL players do not get paid a separate salary for playing in the postseason. League rules actually prohibit NHL teams from paying their players bonuses for making the playoffs and winning the Stanley Cup.
