Right at the moment I'm listening to Power Trip a band formed in Texas in the mid 2000's who sound similar to thrash bands from the 80's. Pretty good stuff imo.

Listening to Sleep Token's album Take Me Back to Eden. It's decent but a bit on the light side for my liking.

Now listening to Pandemonium by Cavalera Conspiracy. Maybe not my favourite album by them but really good stuff.

Ras Algethi is sort of like doom metal. They're from Italy and only released one album in 1995. Just listened to them again yesterday. Clean vocals, slow drumming, heavy organs, undistorted guitars.

Listening to Cause of Death by Obituary now. Listened to Shogun by Trivium earlier in the day.

Been on a big doom/death and gothic doom kick lately, so lots of My Dying Bride, Katatonia, Type O Negative. Listening to Anathema right now. Other than My Dying Bride, I largely ignored this entire scene for a long time, so I have a list of smaller, similar bands to check out.

Yesterday I was recommended cool new albums by Seth (black metal, France) and Wraith (black/thrash, USA).

Other cool new stuff I've found this year includes albums by Noor, Naxen, Vorga, Horn, Attic, Dvne, Givre, Selbst, and Hamferd.

At the moment, Sunburst - Manifesto. Prog/power metal... a bit more prog than power. The vocalist is ok, but the rest of the musicianship is incredibly good.

Witchfinder General: Death Penalty. A little reminiscent of Black Sabbath, but different. From 1982. I love track one, but it's a platonic sort of love.

Destruction: Sentence of Death/Infernal Overkill. One of the best solos ever are in the former. Schmier delivers.

At the gym last night played Mercyful Fates first two cds, the initial EP Nuns Have No Fun and Melissa. Was going to play their next cd Don't Break The Oath but scrolling to their band name by alphabet hit N instead of M and then came across Nasty Savage there so broke up the King run and played their first st cd

Been listening to a lot of Winger lately.

That’s right.
