If anything we need more of these veteran players considered too old, not less. They actually know how to start like professionals. Could teach something to the rest of the group that is in year 10 of this bullshit and still unable to learn or change.

Any view of the team so far that isn’t the Top 6 is completely unable to score and the goalie is completely unable to stop the puck is an effort to tag the team with whatever problem certain fans want it to be.

Hear a repeat of “old! slow! Coyotes D men!” when none of those things have been the problem so far. The players that people fret over being too old or too slow have been our best players so far, sadly. The Coyotes D men wouldn’t be much of an issue if Darnell Nurse found a way to play hockey at an NHL level to start the year.

If we had even .850 goaltending and shot at like 8% we probably win one of those games, or at least have a point. That’s how incredibly bad our shooting and goaltending have been. Wishing we can hit shooting and SV% numbers that would be considered massively subpar in any normal environment.

Nurse has been our worst defender. By far with Kulak having been our best.
I think the issue I have the most with our defence is, unfortunately with how our d is built and how the cap is spread, whoever is beside Nurse, has to baby sit and be able to cover for his struggles (which there is a lot). Ceci isn’t a great player but was able to cover for some at times…but none of the players this coaching staff are willing to play have a chance at it. Emberson looks worse than I thought he could be but is fine as a #6, Dermott is in over his head outside of a #7 and the coaching staff hates Stetcher.

Forwards wise, our worst forwards have been McDavid, Nuge, Hyman and Draisaitl. They have mightily struggled and it’s unfortunately unacceptable.
Your leadership group is supposed to lead by example and to start the season and so far the example they have shown is they don’t give a shit.
Yea your bottom 6 is supposed to help in those instances but at the same time, it’s the start of the season, how can you not be ready to start? It’s just…unacceptable. Now we know those guys CAN be better.

Goaltending though. Well we know our goaltending isn’t good. I know some think they can be but honestly…. Skinner has room to improve and I get that. Pickard though was the wrong guy for a back up. It was admirable how he backed up last year but that was arguably a career year, a something that’s rare for a backup or his age to repeat.

The team needed to either add more support at goalie OR improve the teams defence (either with defensive forwards or with d that were good puck movers). We did neither and downgraded the defence and the defensive forwards.

It’s admirable how strong the 4th line has started but we are wasting that effort that isn’t sustainable from them. When your 4th line is crushing like that and with the ability in our top 6, we SHOULD win.

Instead our stars and core are already looking at playoffs. Now hopefully the coaching staff and management can nip that in the butt so we don’t have to fire another coach to get them to pay attention, but f***.

You need a mix of vets and youth. Our issue is we eliminated every young player in the org that was an NHLer or on the cusp over the summer outside of Bouchard.

Now that they are 2 games in the realization is slowly setting in. They f***ed up. Expecting the worst 3 Arizona D and a 30 game rookie from the worst team in 30 years to play D with a career AHL goalie and another with a history of slow starts while losing most of the team speed might not have been the best idea.
