The Great Anthony Beauvillier Appreciation Thread and Former Hawks Talk Vol 8

Hey, we tried to warn them

Watch Forsling's +/- become negative with Jones.

I really thought he was going to play some decent offence for them in the short term. I figured on D he pretty much is what he is, kind of a floater.

Looks like he is still coasting at both ends.

Jiricek has sat for 7 consecutive games now. Not an ex-Hawk exactly but he’s penciled in as our likely pick in the Jones trade.

The 2 are completely separate in my books. If we don't make that dumb Jones trade, and try to "retool", we finish much worse than where we did in the Jiricek draft.

Seth Jones has the lowest CF% among Panthers defensemen
Kaiser was called up and inserted into the Hawks lineup when Jones was traded.

2. Jones struggling in Florida

There’s often an acclimation period when it comes to newly acquired players and the Panthers better hope that’s all that’s going on with Seth Jones.

The star defender had his share of struggles in Chicago, but the thinking was that he’d put it behind him on a contender and give a jolt to Florida’s offense. Through seven games the early returns are not great, with a team-worst 39 percent of expected goals while getting outscored 6-1. Even with Aaron Ekblad out, Jones’ minutes in Florida have actually been easier than they were in Chicago.

I believe in Jones and think he will turn it around, but it’s hard not to be a little concerned with his start here. So far he’s been a detriment on a team that made Ben Chiarot look good — and that’s saying something.

One important thing for Florida to remember;

Very easy "I told you so" from Hawks fans here but with Dach's season ending injury MTL fans are realizing what we've been telling the from the get.
